It's fine, if you can get it right now.
Edit to clarify: That's a good rifle, and they may not be in stock soon. If I didn't have anything, I would probably settle for something of lesser quality, if I could get it faster.

Pretty standard milspec AR15.
Not having a quad rail for attachments, having a 16 rather than 14.5 inch barrel, and only having semi auto firing mode is pretty much all that separates it from what they’d issue you in the military.
I’d personally rather picatinny railed hand-guard to attach lights or lasers, but if that’s not something you are interested in it’s everything you need.

If it's your first AR, perfectly fine rifle. If it's the only AR you ever buy, still a perfectly fine rifle.

Thanks for the replies. Anyone know what the range is?

Scary. Evil. Must be banned. #RedFlag

Not a bad AR at all. You can always customize it a bit more if you want or keep it as it is and build or buy a more customized AR when you get your second AR. They are addictive.

effective range around 500m. A good shooter can reach farther but the 5.56 might not do much

More than you should ever really need. It's a very capable rifle.

$800 - $1k is the norm right now

The thing about AR rifles is that they are Barbie dolls for men. Anything you don’t like, or even just want to change, is readily available. Want a quad rail? No problem. Free floating hand guard? You bet. Folding stock? Yep. If you can imagine it, you can probably buy it for an AR.

That is why I see rifles like golf clubs. Each does fine at the task for which it was designed. And I do not even golf.
Buy more. Buy them now.

Depends upon purpose.
Conceal carry. Small pistol.
Area denial like acreage or an antifa road block. There it is.
Defending the inside of your home:
Best answer. 2 or 3 versions of all 3, and ammo. Lots and lots of ammo for all of them. And practice, lots and lots of practicing with all of them.

You can't find a Shockwave ANYWHERE

Nope. Not happening on a standard AR.

Go to gunbrokers. Buy them all day long

You can at my house.

Unfortunately right now you probably won’t even be able to get an availability date for that gun because they’re so far behind with back orders. That was my experience recently when I was in the market for my first AR, and I looked at that exact rifle.
I ended up finding a custom build at a local gun shop that was a few hundred more than my budget but I went ahead and bought it with no regrets.
My suggestion would be to go to a local gun shop and tell them your budget and see if they can get the parts to build it.
