How much did you get paid to cut the grass as a kid?

The going rate in my neighborhood in the early 80s was $5 a a yard. Maybe $10, if it was a decent sized yard. Took an entire summer to save up enough for an Atari and Defender cartridge.

Most of the neighbors paid $20. My dad paid $5.

By "the grass" I thought you meant my yard growing up.
I didn't get paid anything for cutting our yard. Got a little something if I didn't cut it, though.

I almost always cut it.

It was part of the cost of room and board growing up for me.

My dad never mowed a lawn again after his first son turned 10.

Paid? I didn’t have a say in the matter or any leverage in the “negotiations”.

$15 in early late 90s/early 2000s to cut neighborhood yards. I had to cut mine for free, as I was using my dad's lawnmower equipment for other people's yards.. Friend and I mowed yards together and split the money. Idea was that we could knock out yards so much quicker that we'd make more money. But, being dumb kids, didn't think about the fact that we wouldn't get tons of yards. Took me a long damn time to save up to buy a PlayStation but I got halfway and my parents finished the other half for me.
