Left about 15 years ago, best move we ever made, neither my wife nor I can imagine any place in LA we would be willing to return to.

My folks lived in Beaumont for a year or two and didn't love it.

I've only driven through the place on the interstate...and that was enough for me to know I'd never want to live there. Looks worse than BR honestly

You can get boudin shipped to you no matter where you live. It’s expensive to ship it out to the west coast or up to the northeast, but it’s very affordable to have delivered to your door in Houston.

New Orleans is the only city in Louisiana worth even sticking around for, and they don’t give a shite about boudin lol.

It’s funny that boudin & cracklin are always things brought up when this topic comes up. Wut

Tourist appeal is a weird flex. Especially when places like Dallas or Houston have airports that can get you anywhere within 3 hours.

Like Mingo said, they're great places to live. Plenty to do for locals, but no, there aren't tourist events during which the locals leave the city anyways.

That whole Beaumont/Port Arthur/Orange, TX region is unbelievably depressing. I don’t understand how that area can have so many good paying jobs and look so run down and shitty.

I lived in St. Louis and DC.

I moved back home a year ago. No place like home.

The biggest difference between Houston and Louisiana is they love to live an hour or more away from work in Houston

True, but the boudin comments are usually SWLA people who never leave because of food and their family a mile down the road.

I like it. You get seasons, and it's pretty where I live. Traffic is way better than BR.

New Orleans is one of the greatest cities on earth to be single in your 20’s and 30’s in, especially if you’re middle/upper middle class.

Lafayette is a really nice place to raise a family, but can be a little cliquey with a lot of “keeping up with the Joneses” types.

The rural “down da bayou” towns of the state offer a completely unique life style found nowhere else.

The North Shore is like a smaller version of the woodlands, but has the gorgeous lakefront and is just an hour from the beaches in Pass Christian/Bay St. Louis, MS, and just 3 hours from really nice beaches in Orange Beach, AL.

There are some very enjoyable places to live in this state which cannot be replicated or duplicated elsewhere, but without economic opportunities, it’s extremely difficult to live there long term.

Busy airports mean you can easily be a tourist wherever.

I mean if you're just going to say shite like this, there's no point in discussing this.

High crime, terrible roads, failing schools, garbage spread all along the roads, climbing insurance rates? Yea you will definitely miss all that.

I guess the difference is that compared to Baton Rouge, Knoxville isn't run down and doesn't have bad traffic.

“Things to do” in Dallas and Houston do not compare favorably to nyc, California and west coast cities, Chicago, etc

That’s not up for debate
