I guess Instagram is sort of like the oldest form of commerce in the world.

All those Instagram influencers have one thing in common typically

my kid watches those stupid arse youtube families (ryan, fgteevee, blippi) and every one of those frickers has moved into massive california mansions in the last couple years.
eta when you look up the net worth of someone named 'blippi' and it dwarfs your own, gotta feel bad about your life choices.

all he does is pay youtube for his 'keyword placement' and make a 10 minute video once a month and the money just rolls in.
he could quit tomorrow and the money would still roll in for decades.
eta i had little kids when youtube was taking off; never thought to buy them new toys every day and video them opening them. i could be THROUGH with you frickers right now if i had

How do they make that kind of money? I know ads, but who is really paying to advertise on kids on instagram?

I wonder the same thing about all of YouTube.
I have fallen through a couple of YouTube holes like people playing slot machines at the casino and chatting up a storm and even getting Patreon donations at the same time. While some of his edited videos look like he goes in with 500 and walks out with a few grand. I wish I had that luck.
There was even one YouTube hole that I fell into recently, someone recorded themselves scratching off scratch offs.
I know I need better hobbies.

Most of these e-commerce “gurus” are frauds who rent their cars and mansions that they post on Instagram. They make money buy selling overly priced online courses on how to create a successful e-comm business. All that money is from selling the courses, not the actual product.
