They were a little before my time but I recently started getting into them big time. Love their delivery, range, and content. Especially the Bends,OK computer era but they have gems on all albums

I’ve been trying to really get into them for years. Idk if I’m missing something but Yorke’s voice just really annoys me.

I love Karma Police, Fake Plastic Trees, and a handful of others but I can’t seem to commit to them. I’ll give the Bends a go. I own Ok computer.

This is where I'm at with them. Tried multiple times to get into them and I just can't. The Black Keys are another acclaimed band that doesn't do it for me.

Checking in as a fan..

I loved The Bends as a kid and kind of fell out with them when Kid A was released as it was a large departure from the guitar sounds I had enjoyed but came back to them in recent years and now enjoy their entire catalog. In Rainbows is my favorite record; absolute masterpiece.

Radiohead is in my rop 5 bands and been listening to them from the beginning. Top 5 albums in order - in rainbows > hail to the thief > ok computer > kid a > the bends

Unfortunately, if you can't get past his voice, you should give up now or watch Radiohead instrumentals on YouTube :) - LINK

My wife is in the same boat and couldn't get past his voice after the bends. She loves pablo honey and most of the bends. But I have tried every album since and she just can't get past his voice, despite realizing the music is really good. She liked the instrumentals btw

Honestly, I think it has to do with our ear drums and how certain tones sound from person to person. It might be genetic - her brother also can't stand his voice and his wife and I both love his voice :)

However, I do wish he would sing one octive lower in some songs. He just really loves falsetto

I remember a guy on an old show, Four on the Floor (four people discussing music on VH1), recommended the Bends, saying that it was a very strong follow up and different from Pablo Honey. Boy was he right. I initially liked the first four tracks, then the last four, and finally the middle four. I don't recall anyone singing like that at the time, and then along came Travis, Coldplay, etc. I too liked OK, Computer, but I had to call it on the subsequent albums.

Michael Stipe introduced them here, I believe, and said something like 'they're so good, it's scary'.

Kid A is definitely different, but it is a masterpiece. It took a few listens to click, but it may be my favorite Radiohead album (it or OK Computer). The first five to ten seconds of Everything In Its Right Place is the best opening moment of any album I’ve ever heard.

Their work is very absorbing. I pick them up, imbibe myself, then drop them completely for eons.

After years and years, if hard pressed, I'd still say The Bends.

I wasn't a fan until I saw this performance about 10 years ago:

In Rainbows - Live from the Basement

Blew me away...those guys are super talented.

They put on an outstanding show in 2003 for the HTTT tour, I have a legit bootleg of that show as well.

When Yorke busted out the acoustic and started "Exit Music" the entire sold out arena was pin-drop quiet.

Love The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A, and In Rainbows. The rest of their catalog is kind of hit or miss. Still one of my favorite bands for just those 4 records. OK Computer is the most perfect rock album ever made, IMO.

I was there in 2017. They opened with Daydreaming and then Desert Island Disk. Such an incredible chill opening.

Radiohead is one of the best bands I've ever heard live.

The Bends
Ok Computer
Kid A
Amnesiac
HTTT
In Rainbows (fricking masterpiece)
King of Limbs (really the only meh)
Moon Shaped Pool

7 out of the 8 albums are absolutely legit. Not many bands can cover so many sounds like they can. And so many people have favorite albums that are completely different.

I'm off and on with them. Every four or five years I'll listen to them for a week or two, then move on.

Saw them live for the Hail To The Thief Tour. Great show.
