re: Refused service at 5 guys

Went to a steakhouse last night because I didn’t feel like BBQ’ing before the fireworks. I walked ten feet with my mask on, took it off, ate, talked, and when I was done walked ten feet out the door and took my mask off again.

But I know the owners and want to support local businesses who have it rough. Btw, the owners of that restaurant think it’s stupid, as well.

.3% fatality rate per CDC overall.

And the people who die are older than average.

The problem is that a lot of people, largely bureaucrats, decided this was going to be a world ender, based off of early and incomplete information, and they won’t back down for political reasons. It would be embarrassing and it would harm their careers.

Fauci is a good example of how this behavior is personally useful. He made erroneous claims about Aids in the 80s were really good for his career, they got him promoted, but they were dubious at the time and were later soundly disproven.

Alarmism is a parasitic way of getting ahead. But it works.

So it's not American for a business owner to do as they wish and require what ever they want?

What's American is you can choose to just walk out and get shitty food else where.
What's not American is the government telling people and businesses what to do.

That said, location depending they may not actually "support" wearing a mask.
They may be required by local government to require the mask even if they don't want too.
