I’ve used Kratom regularly for about 6 years now - several times per week. Helped curb my nightly drinking habit and relieves stress and anxiety. My wife also appreciates the anti-anxiety effects, although she has a very low tolerance so even the slightest overdose makes her sick.

It’s definitely habit forming so I tend to take 4-6 week breaks every now and then - no withdrawal symptoms aside from difficulty falling asleep naturally for the first couple of days.

I have also had my complete liver panel bloodwork done every several times over the past few years. My doctor was aware of my kratom use so he carefully analyzed me and my liver. No change at all. Liver and blood numbers had no fluctuations. This is a plant that’s been used medicinally for thousands of years in Asia - when buying from reputable online vendors (not shady head shops or gas stations), the stuff is about as safe of a substance as there is. When combined with a good edible, you’ll float out into another galaxy

I broke my ankle pretty severely (3 places) in 2017. After surgery, of course they gave me painkillers but only for maybe 7-10 days or something like that.

4 months later when I started walking again on it again, it hurt pretty badly but I didn't want to ask for or take more pain pills and Ibuprofen helped but only the 800's.

So I heard about the opiate effects of Kratom from a few different people and took the powder because it was the cheapest. It helped with the pain, about as good as the 800 ibuprofen. But it helped immediately and immensely with my nervous gut. Since I was a kid, when I get even the slightest bit of nervous, I have to shite, immediately. When I take kratom, I take one shite in the morning, and that's it for the day. A big shite at that.

So, in times of stressful decision making, when my nervous shits were always the worse, a scoop of Kratom in the morning for 3-5 days gets me right where I need to be for effective shite time and place. Immediately in the morning after one cup of coffee. Works wonders when nothing else EVER has. Metamucil, yogurt, pro-biotics, none of that even made a diffence.

It’s by far the top cause in a relapse for opiate addicts

It can really elevate GGT just like ETOH. I think it should remain legal, but only 21+.

It’s like really good coffee. Uplifting without jitters, great sense of well-being and positivity. It’s psychoactive like caffeine, but it’s not psychedelic like cannabis.

I think it’s a big solution to the opioid epidemic. This is a product people use to stop all kinds of addiction. But just having this available recreationally scratches most people’s itch, they might not ever move to harder things. There are some concentrates that are a bad idea, and there will always be some who try to take 50g 5x a day, instead of 3-5g 1-3x a day. But it’s safe, used for 1000 years, doesn’t cause respiratory depression, and has a ceiling effect where you can’t double dose, it doesn’t increase the effects, so you just waste your supply, and keeping a low dose is naturally encouraged.

I think it has potential medical uses as needed for headache no doubt, and pain, but also daily for anxiety, depression, lethargy. It’s really great for social anxiety. Users swear that they don’t get sick, and there is some truth to it. I think maybe it masks cold symptoms very well.

Withdrawals from 1x a day use are 3 days of cold like symptoms that can be eliminated with an allergy pill, and restless legs which can be eliminated with magnesium. Benadryl actually increases the restless legs.

There's a ton of different strains that are supposed to do certain things. Some for pain, some for anxiety, some are supposed to be euphoric and get you high. My ex takes it regularly for knee pain and she swears by it, but those were the pain strains. When I heard "opiate affect" I thought of fun like vicodin, but it strictly helps pain apparently without the feels goods. I felt nothing when I took it but I wouldn't mind trying some of the anxiety strains. It's expensive as hell. She'd take 7 pills and that wasn't because of tolerance that's what the actual dosage was

I’ve tried it. Tastes terrible and takes a lot to feel any effects.

It depends on the quality of the Kratom. I've tried many vendors and strains over the years and the best imo is Coastline Kratom Ultra Enhanced Maeng Da strain. 1 teaspoon mixed with water is all I need for about 2 hours of that narcotic euphoric feeling. Everybody is different and it doesnt take much narcotic to make me feel ill but if you havent had much luck with Kratom in the past I highly recommend this source and strain.

I do - usually eat about 5 grams in the morning when i wake up, then lay in bed for about 30 minutes before getting up. Helps me focus and and get moving, etc.

Sometimes if I need some energy / focus later on in the day I'll take more - like when I'm on a long road trip for work or am working late, etc.

ETA: For all the people saying it tastes terrible - buy capsules.

The little bit I know about Kratom (only from Joe Rogan and Chris Bell), it sounds a lot like it's in the same no-man's-land as pot years ago where there seems to be a lot of anecdote about beneficial properties that could be really useful medically, and low dosages should be ok for recreational usage, but it's not really being studied and it'll probably be made illegal.

Itd be badass to have a painkiller that doesn't get you high in the medical field.

its also probably one of the best for long term management and success in staying off harder stuff. I know many people who used it this way as opposed to having to go the suboxone maintenance route

I understand that there are different schools of thought when it comes to this but I couldn’t disagree more

If you’re an opiate addict, chasing that high with Kratom maintenance is a terrible strategy. If some
people can make it work then more power to them. Just my personal opinion as I’ve seen it backfire more often than work. Filling one substance abuse hole with another substance is super high risk situation.

Well that I don't think that any addict chasing the high with kratom or any substance is going to succeed. I don't really know if I would attribute the Kratom to be the reason they relapsed - in my view someone with that approach was always going to relapse.

But the people that are ready to quit, use kratom as a maintenance method instead of suboxone (which literally just transfers your addiction), that it has been incredibly beneficial to a lot of people I know to help them taper down from an addiction. Some have gone completely off as result, some still take low level daily maintenance doses cause it helps them maintain and even keel and avoid strong urges.

There is no silver bullet, so what works for one person isn't going to be right for the next - but Kratom is definitely a valuable tool for many people looking to fight addiction.
