People are tired of politics being pushed into their sports and are responding. They are tired of the toxic culture on Twitter, tired of media agendas. Sports for many is a diversion from the every day grind.

Everyone expected the ratings to drop this year.
Oh really? Literally 90% of people are at home and could've watched.
They just chose not to watch that garbage

Half of those are the people taking advantage of the Disney Plus and Hulu bundle. If the House of Mouse offered to take a dollar off their bill if they dropped ESPN+, their subscribers would drop by a third in a month.
I've got it through the bundle, and have never even logged into it or download the app for it. I kind of wonder how many people like me have done the same thing.

Holding the event in the middle of June when it’s typically held in July every year probably played a major role in the ratings decline. Same ratings drop happened to the Oscars this year when they randomly moved up the ceremony from the last week of February to the first week of February this year. Having a fixed date for an event every year and changing it with little warning is a really, really dumb move.

You think people put this on their calendar for July, and look forward to watching it every year??

But that doesn’t explain a drop of this magnitude.
No, but the fact that people don’t want to be preached to when trying to enjoy sports does.
The NFL may actually bottom out this year if they go al in with pandering and virtue signaling. I really think people may be at their breaking point

It's a fixed date because they have it during the MLB All-star break when no sports are going on. Now sports will be ramping back up around that date. They knew it wasn't going to do any ratings so just get it over with.
