Saturday evening 9mm pistol shootout: and the winner is...

Had a table full of 9mm guns this weekend between 3 shooters. I burned through almost 1k rounds. I probably put 4 magazines through each pistol. On the table were:
P226
P228
P229
TP9SF
92s
PX4
G17
G17L
G34
XD-M
Stoeger something or other
MP2.0
SW1911
I know are gun enthusiasts we like to debate the merits of one over the other but my takeaway is that we are pretty spoiled nowadays because there are tons of fantastic pistols on the market and every pistol I shot was pretty fantastic in their own way. I can see why we nitpick the way we do since the guns were so good you really do have to nitpick over the finer details to choose one over the other. There wasn't a single malfunction in any of the pistols. Honestly can't choose a winner but there were a couple of standouts.
G17L. Easily the most accurate. This really wasn't fair because this was probably the most money wrapped up in a single gun on the table as it was set up for competitive shooting. My first time shooting a long slide and it felt like cheating. Trigger was like you were lightly tapping the power button on the side of your phone. Amazing and scary at the same time.
SW1911. My first time shooting a 9mm 1911 and I fell in love with this one as soon as I picked it up. 1911's ergos feel so great in the hand and the 9mm made for light recoil and fast easy shooting. I think a 9mm 1911 might have to be my next purchase. I fell out of love with it when I got home and looked up the price with the intention of maybe buying one.
TP9SF. Cheapest gun on the table and for me it was probably the 2nd most accurate outside of the G17L, maybe tied with the P226 but it had an aftermarket trigger. Good trigger, easy to point, and deadly on the dueling tree.

Check out Rock Island Armory's Ultra FS 9mm. It's a great gun with many upgrades over a stock 1911 and they are extremely affordable. I paid $600 full retail at Sportsman's Warehouse in Slidell a little over 2 years ago. They can be found cheaper online as well.
Here's a link to it on Gun.deals but nothing in stock right now at all the websites they monitor.

Canik's are garnering quite a solid reputation. They're excellent guns out the box with exceptional factory triggers. Can't go wrong with a TP9SF or step up to its big brother, the TP9SFX. I had an SF. Sold it when I got an SFX. And again, these are some of the most "bang for your buck" values on the market right now. The SF can be found for $300 online and the SFX $500

I can second this. Rock Island's 1911s are a lot cheaper than many of the other brands, but are very reliable.
The more expensive 1911s are usually built with tighter tolerances, but this can sometimes lead to the pistols being pickier on ammunition in terms of what rounds you can cycle through the gun reliably. If you google the rock island 1911s you will find a lot of good reviews and not a whole lot of cons. They also have a lot of color options/styles to choose from.
I have a RIA 1911 45ACP and have been very pleased with it. They also offer a model that comes with two different barrel assemblies that allow you to shoot 9mm or .22 TCM ammunition.

Are they reliable enough for self defense or concealed carry? Not crapping on them by any means, honest questions as I, like thousands of others now, are looking to buy a handgun that I can bet my life on, so to speak.

Yes. I've owned 2. Still have the SFX.
Not a single issue in my ownership of them. I wouldn't hesitate to use one in a defense situation if I had to.

Another one I am partial to..
Also list is limited due to no FN, HK or CZ...
I bet it was fun running through that list tho...

This isn't some official 9mm shootout. It was 3 dudes having a blast doing a shootout with their personal collections.

The Shadow 2 is an incredible firearm.

Actually, from my experience I'm not really surprised at how accurate your Canik was. I don't have as many handguns as y'all shot, but I do have a fair number. My Canik TP9SF is the most accurate handgun I have. This is the target from the last time I shot it (7 yards), 18 rounds (one mag).
I can also second the nomination for a Rock Island gun. Although I don't have a RI, I do have a Citadel Officer's 1911 in 45 ACP. Citadel guns are made by same manufacturer in the Philippians as RI. My Citadel is a solid gun, although I don't like the Parkerized finish. If you get a 1911, I"d suggest looking at a one with a lightweight/aluminum frame.

Just looking at the list and I would have bet the P226 and G17L were the most accurate. I actually have quite a few rounds through about half your guns there.
For me the all metal Sigs just point and hit the truest for me. I'm not crazy about the P229 in .40 but I'm way over the .40 era and the gun is still crazy accurate and easy to shoot (compared to a Glock 23, for example).
I shot the hell out of Berettas (M9/92), but never shot them particularly well.
