was green jeans just cruising around your land?

We sit along the main road that leads from town to the boat ramp on the MS River. So they're through there all the time checking people at the boat ramp.

Just thankful that the good Lord didn't give the gar the disposition of a barracuda, because it's got the equipment to be quite dangerous.

I've seen it a number of times in Catahoula Parish backwater.

I'd have taxed the herd for one or two as well.

I’ve seen it happen several times on our place in Tensas next to the river. Same circumstances.

How far north of Natchez are y’all on the MS side.

During the spring at Sardis lake, we would always wade in the shallow flats and shoot carp and gar with our bowfishing rigs.

No but I've knocked several in the head with a boat paddle and thrown them back.

Same thing was going on in my buddy’s dead end canal in Tiki Island TX a few weekends ago. See a few big gar in his canal every so often but that weekend there were 40+ 3’-6’/7’ gar rolling the entire day. Never seen that before. We hooked and landed a few 3-4 footers.

These things were close to 100 pounds and they were just swarming around at my feet.

WTF, weren't you worried they were going to bite a chunk out of your massive balls?

I have out in the marsh. Don’t remember where it was because I was like 12 but we thought they were redfish at first and we got excited. We were let down but it was pretty cool seeing it. They were all in one pond. They were the size of the one in the picture but there were over 1000 of them.

Anecdotally there are numerous tales of gar drowning people...probably not while engaged in getting some and not in 8 inches of water but there are lots of stories of them eating folks. Probably all unfounded but a 100 pound fish with those teeth could do some damage if it wanted to....only a man from Louisiana would think to wade into that madness LOL....y'all are nuts LOL.

You should have loaded your truck with them and sold them.

I am probably in the minority but they are good eating if prepared properly. I don't about one that weighs 5o pounds but little ones are pretty tasty if done right...

When I was a kid, old neighbor across the street made gar balls cooked in gravy, served on rice and asked me to eat. They were great,I raved about it so much he would call me to come eat every time he fixed them.

Terry Miles is an alright dude. Been checked by him many times in bayou Pierre, Yucatan, and at the ramp at CC Port.
He was in and out of the store when I was working down there in PG.

Awesome we live in a time where you can document this with something other than a polaroid. Only once have I seen something similar but not on this scale. There was two mating balls with eating size channels swarming around the edges to eat eggs. I don't know how long I watched in amazement before realizing this was the best catfish fishing I'd ever come across.

Good on green jeans, you should now be exempt from them ever checking you again
