Reminds me of the famous Blue Dog. Should have named him "Rodrigue".

I didn't get mine fixed and he's aggressive towards other people if they come near one of our family members, not sure if it would have changed anything though.

They have a lot of energy and chew a lot

keep toys/chew bones around

I walk mine two miles a day to burn energy

Jetsam

Well, now I guess you need a second dog or a cat named Flotsam.

It you want the LSU connection there, Justin Jefferson (Jets) and Cordale Flott.

I am the proud servant of a dachshund/rat terrier mix. He is an amazing best friend and a character and a half. He was a rescue and is about eleven years old. He is blind and has diabetes, but it hasn’t slowed him down a bit.

The mix is prone to diabetes late in life, so keep the sweets low and keep him active. Pet health insurance is not a bad idea, as the diabetes treatment and monitoring and the cataracts or glaucoma that may result, can get expensive in the short term. It saved me a few grand.

Notwithstanding these issues, I would never have it any other way.

Enjoy your new best friend!

Our 2nd family dog was a miniature rat terrier
She ended up being a 35# weenie rat mix
She was so fat & squishy, she was the sweetest most gentle of any of the rats we have had

The lady who I was going to get it from is having second thoughts now.

Kind of a kick in the nuts. I was all excited. Even got a little pirate ship dog bed.

I get that giving it up when you are attached even for a little while is hard but I didn’t realize I’d feel like this. Really bummed. Hoping she changes her mind
