Ryan is the most likely of the rising juniors to get a scholarship. If Rau were to get one, my guess is that it wouldn’t be until senior year if at all. Yes Ryan only made one competitive lineup this year and struggled but every exhibition vault we saw from her was spot on, and she’s likely to make the vault lineup next year, especially if Edwards and Durante don’t come back. Even if they both do, unless Brock upgrades to a 1.5, I’m guessing that the Durante/Brock vault spot will go to another 10.0 SV vaulter like Ryan. Correct if I’m wrong about this but another factor that may make it more difficult for Ryan and Ballard to be awarded a scholarship over another gymnast on the team, despite their contribution(s) is the fact that they’re from Louisiana. Might make slightly more sense to give it to an out of state gymnast

Considering we only have a limited amount of scholarships, we probably want to give it to someone who competes/contributes regularly.

Truthfully if we had a pure beam specialist we could add to the roster next year (outside our freshmen class announced), I would be happy with that.

Yes please!! We need another Erin, but not to be wasted as a freaking lead off. Side note, I will never get over her not getting the scores she deserved.

Lead off routines never get scored fairly unfortunately and is one of the flaws with college gymnastics judging.

Kiya on bars gets screwed way too often for going first.

Notice Desiderio's scores declined when moved from the 4th spot in the lineup to first on beam.

Skaggs is great - but lineups next year at florida will be crazy. Though I don’t actually think Morgan Hurd goes if she makes the Olympic team.

Btw I heard some communication between Leah Smith and Florida gymnasts...

Sydney Johnson Sharpf is rumored to be retiring which opens up a spot if it gets to that point.

Who doesn’t make the Olympic team?

Whose Olympic dreams are crushed?

LSU needs BAR WORKERS bc they get points!!

What do we need to do? I adore gymnastics - I always tell ppl, I’m an athlete... U can do nothing gymnasts do. They are the most athletic individuals - pound for pound, nobody compares. They’re amazing to watch! What can we do to make the best of the best commit to LSU???

I’m in TX, btw... we kinda have a grip of great gyms. TX should be LSU territory like Louisiana is for football.

I wouldn’t rule anything out with Leah Smith. Still not sure why she switched her commitment from Cal to Washington. But with Florida’s stacked roster for the next few years, I can’t see why anyone who wants to contribute would go there (other than the elites). I literally mapped out Florida’s lineups for next year, and there’s going to be some people upset because they won’t make the lineups. I guess it’s a good problem to have. We’ll see how Jenny manages it all.

If we know Jenny, not great! Wouldn’t be surprised to see Payton transfer somewhere else.

Don’t know where this rumor started but she’s not retiring. Just leaving the Gainesville area for the summer to do an internship. She recently just had achilles repair surgery and is planning on coming back next year

Any recruits on the radar to keep an eye on at American Cup? Also I second the question above- when do seniors need to decide?

I was told Florida is anticipating a scholarship opening up. Either someone would be retiring or someone is transferring.

I honestly have no clue, not privy to much Florida gym news but I heard there could be some last minute changes or movement.

As the poster alluded to above. If one of Florida's kids get a spot on the olympic team and goes pro, that obviously changes things too.

Leah smith had a walk-on offer at Cal. Check her initial announcement - you can read a lot by the wording of the announcement. Washington offered full ride.

Her gymnastics greatly improved this year after the move to World champions center.

Washington is currently in search of new coaching staff- they probably asking her to met new staff before trying to get out of her NLI

Leah would be a tremendous addition for any team.

WCC seems like one of the top rising gyms in the country lately. Quite a few kids from WOGA and Texas Dreams have been moving to that gym.

Pearland Elite also has a lot of promising kids as well

If anyone wants to watch the American Classic from yesterday, it’s on YouTube under the user Madi Greenwood. May want to catch it before they take it down.
