Do we even have space for another after Sparks?
Very sorry to hear about Bryce but glad she is still going to be part of the team in a different form.
Elizaveta Grebenkova and Brooke Reingold have both just committed to Auburn. They are going fast this year

To be fair that is because of the amazing job that Jay and co have done in recruiting since 2016. Prior to the rest of Harrold's class we got pretty few US elites/former elites. Few international elites did NCAA anyway and the former elites that did seemed to go to Florida/UCLA. This only changed with the Finnegan/Priessman/Kelley class after Jay joined LSU. Over the past couple years we picked up a ton of former elites, like Aleah, Kailin, Amari, Kaliya, Konnor, Zoe, Lexi, Alyona, Livvy, Arenas, Desiderio, Tori...

There's less of a need to pick up internationals since we had a ton of US former elite talent
Hats off to Jay and the Griffeths. They have done an awesome job with the portal! Looks like we basically got all we were after. Brinkman, Ulrich, Innes, Blackson. That should be quite a few lineup spots and a ton of depth for other lineups.
Wasn't expecting as many 5th/6th years as this! Has everyone who could return chosen to return?
Very nice. Looks like a good beam and floor worker. Most likely lineup I think is floor, especially since we lost a bunch of routines this year. Nice Yfull but we won’t be using that.
I remember she had a DTY pre-college. If she could contribute on even vault that would be great. We will be a bit thin on vault after this year
Some rumours that Ashlee Sullivan (elite, previously committed to Michigan) may be available. No more mention of Michigan on her IG. She has been doing well in elite this year? To be honest I always thought she had SEC vibes so I was surprised when she went to Michigan.

Also noticed that Alexis's recent post just said year 4, without any big goodbyes. Maybe she is thinking of taking a 5th year, I think she had eligibility from her first year.
I am afraid I think I just disagree. Tori looks laboured on bars now - yes she looked better than Dunne a few years ago in another season. I've also looked at Tori's career high 9.95 routine and honestly that's not a 9.95. She is short on the final handstand and has a very visible significant leg separation on the Pak salto. I also think that what is important is an ability to hit: Dunne is a proven competitor and iirc Tori did not feature that much in last season. She featured in her sophomore season as we were very lacking in bars depth then. Things have changed significantly with the addition of eg Konnor, Drayton, Chio, Zeiss, all former elites and with good competitive track records and who look in good form generally. I hope I am wrong and that we will be able to see Tori in at least another exhibition
Really gutted for Chase, though suspected that was the result.

Agree with Alyona on vault and floor over bars, though don't know what her health status is and whether she is able to compete those events. For vault especially, we don't need anything other than a 1.5.

Chase being out hurts us a bit on vault but not too much, even without her the lineup against OU will probably be our postseason lineup I think: KJ, Finnegan, Lincoln, Drayton, Chio, Bryant. Zeiss probably as reserve. I suppose Konnor may be an option health-permitting but it's getting a bit late in the season to introduce her.

Floor we should be fine. Ballard with the 2 pass routine looks good. Dunne always good for a backup and there should be some others with a serviceable floor eg Coen. Alyona would be good here for depth.

Bars... honestly, I think Tori is pretty far down the line of options. We already have Cowan, Jeffrey, Chio, Finnegan, Konnor, Bryant who are basically guaranteed if healthy. Zeiss is doing pretty well as leadoff so that's a 7th person. Then 8th would be Dunne again I think - she is always ready to go even at the last minute and has a high hit rate. There's also Drayton, whom I think has really nice form. Imo Tori would be after all these other options for me on bars unless something has changed

I personally don't think we get McClain back on floor this season. From Jay's interviews it sounded like that's the last event to get back. She is starting some vault training but we probably have enough depth on that event.

Also I love a lineup with 6 10.0 start values, but I genuinely don't think the coaches put Brock first. She is a great athlete but hasn't been the most confident throughout her career on that event and Jay was just talking about how KJ really starts them off super strong with great energy for vault and it sets the tone for the rest of the lineup and meet. So even with KJ's full, I think that will still be in postseason lineup.
Not a great meet from the team but I guess good to have one out of the way. Mistakes from underclassmen I don't really mind as they're finding their feet but there were too many errors from the upperclassmen.

I do feel like our depth is really being tested with all the injuries and both Aleah and Kailin are cracking a bit under the pressure of AA every week. Kailin is amazing but still a freshman. Even Haleigh and Sarah Finnegan didn't do AA every week as a freshman. Aleah didn't do AA for most of last season either.

On the positive side I liked seeing the exhibition routines in the Arky meet. Roberts vault needs more work but has potential for the future, nice form. Tatum very laboured unfortunately and short on every handstand. Leah Miller actually not a bad floor backup routine, not the most difficult of passes but 3 pass routine and not much by way of built in deductions. Had it been in lineup for the meet it would've counted. And Lexi on beam, not a good angle for form, but she shows good composure.

That was a big night for sure but I think the Climb started way before. It was through all those years of injuries when Haleigh and then Aleah were freshmen. They really learnt to compete and to hang tight together as a team and trust in each other.
Personally I am happy with Ballard on floor too. I just think Dunne's ring jumps are going to be a problem when we have so many eyes on the routines postseason. But she is a good depth option to have to rest some others during regular season.

Just watched the conference with Jay and super happy to hear that about Lincoln possibly being in floor. Our lineups for floor now are good, but they could be even better
Coen looked good on beam, wouldn't have been able to tell it was her first competitive routine. Very stable and calm routine.

Zeiss really needs to do a tucked 1.5. I expressed doubts about her form issues last year and some posters here thought it would get better with the transition to college but it hasn't really. All her twisting elements are problematic. Her bars are ok though. It is a shame, I think her injuries in 2024 and the push for the Olympics have really had a negative impact. If you look at her elite videos from 2023 the form is much better in exactly the same skills.

Glad that we are seeing a good range of different routines this year; there seems to be a high level of competition for lineup spots which is very nice to see after some of the super injury filled seasons we had over the last few years.

That being said, I am not sure why Jay hasn't redshirted Lincoln. She is obviously SO talented and so powerful but also clearly not healthy enough for a full competition season this year. Again I guess the Olympic push really took a toll. Not sure I see the point of just having her for vault
I think Kaliya can get it together with the vault with some time and reps. Too much power is a better problem to have than too little.

Beard removed from official roster on the website now. Sad that college gym didn't really happen for some reason, but glad that she can say she was on the Natty winning team. Hope she is happy.
Instagram reels of the last intrasquad before today's meet shows KJ, Drayton, and Chio on vault; Aleah, Cowan, Chio, Shcennikova, Jeffrey, and Dunne on bars, Drayton, Chio, Dunne, Konnor, Aleah, Zeiss on beam.

Looks like KJ and Jeffrey should be back for the meet
Yeah, I think the problem with Lincoln is that from the things I have seen/heard, it sounds like her issue is an Achilles problem. Not sure that is going to get that much better with redshirting/rest.

Ok, so rewatched gym 101 in light of injury reports, so here is what I think the lineups will be on Friday. I have assumed KJ and Alexis are available.

I largely agree with these, except that I think on bars Jeffrey will lead off and Zeiss will be second, and for vault we will probably go with a different order, ie not freshmen so late in the order. My bet is on having Chio and Zeiss/Lincoln in the 2 and 3 spots so early in the season and then shifting them up if/when they get more comfortable. My suspicion is also that we will see Zeiss over Lincoln since Zeiss seems healthier. I'm interested to see her scoring with the knee form issues. Lincoln seems to be not really that healthy.

We would be more comfortable for sure with depth with having Coen available for beam/floor: she should be at least a 9.85 and probably equivalent with Dunne on those events.
