for literally 3 minutes in a nice neighborhood where you can see the car from the check-out line? were you that sheltered as a kid?

Let’s also be honest, you see 2 kids and a dog in a car with no parent. What do you do? We don’t know if they have been there 5 minutes or 50 minutes.

My dad stopped doing that after me and my brother put the car in gear and crashed. We were 5 and 7 years old

Seriously though, I think it's pretty dumb to leave two kids that young in a vehicle for any amount of time. The AC running is fine, to protect them from the heat, but that's still young to be leaving them.
I’m not a parent, but is this really how pussified this country has become? You can’t trust an 8 year old in a cranked car for 5 minutes? Just never open it for a stranger or touch the dashboard. 6 and under I understand, but an 8 year old should understand this. What a bunch of pussy helicopter parents here.

Don't know where you live but I'm pretty sure leaving kids in a car at that age is against LA state law.

No such thing as a Winn Dixie in a "nice neighborhood."

Really, an 8 year old can’t be trusted in a car for 5 minutes?
You would trust an 8 year old to not see something in the parking lot and not venture out the vehicle, into the parking lot? I have a 7 year old daughter, who I think is super smart and mature for a 7 year old. I'm 99% certain she would stay in the car in that situation, but I would never test it. Not to mention, she would be scared shitless.
You would also trust every other person walking around to not to take the kids? Even if you are fine with paragraph one, you can't be feeling confident in random strangers. And two kids that young would be totally helpless. All it takes is one bad person and one minute.

Your kids and your decision but I assume you wanted opinions since you posted here.
Too young to leave alone in a car.
I don't leave it to chance and my kid comes with me whenever I leave the car. Yeah it's a one in a million chance someone would try and take them or whatever.
Now I wouldn't call the cops on anyone in this case. If it were a small child left alone and I was legitimately concerned I would just hang out and keep an eye on the car until the parents showed back up.

No shite.
My mom used to leave me in the car all the time....back then it was normal.
Of course, I did but it in reverse once and drove the car into the ditch across the street.....but I was fine....mom was a little upset though.

It’s not kids I don’t trust, it’s weirdos. Do you leave your kids in cars?
I don’t have kids, but my parents regularly did this to me and my sister. You know what they’d also let me do? Go out in the neighborhood and play alone with my friends. *gasp* They were just awful parents by just not watching me at all times.

That’s a rather elaborate story your wife made up just to get some strange dick

You said it all. You would 100% not do this if you actually were.
This smells a whole lot like a bugapaintrain alter.

Your wife did nothing wrong.

Dang, the Mind Your Business crowd must all be logged off today. I don't see a thing wrong with it.

First it was 5 minutes, now it's 3 minutes. And there is no chance in hell your wife had eyes on the car every second she was in the store.
