Does anyone think LSU BB is going to escape the Smart/Wade stuff unscathed?

There has to be eventual consequence from the NCAA at some point, right? It may be 3-4 years down the road, but it is coming.

it's gonna suck when it finally comes down. i hope it's in the offseason and not when we are making a run.

Hey if we're lucky NCAA will hit ULL with sanctions as our punishment.

I do, the coronavirus was perfectly timed to cover up that mess. Well played General Wade!

If I had to wager, I would think at worst we get docked a few scholarships, maybe a few recruiting visits, etc.
I have several reasons for feeling this way.
1- Our ad is married to the head of the NCAA's daughter. He also took this job while this "situation" was brewing. He knew full well about any cloud Wade may have put over the program. And yes I am aware Woodard has language in his contract that absolves him from any problems before he came here.
2- Wade is KILLING IT on the recruiting trail. This dude is showing no signs of any concern over possible sanctions. I think the normal behavior when "caught" would be to lay back and not make as much noise on the trail as you were before. Just settle for the decent team you have and try to weather the storm. Wade gives ZERO flucks, and is going full steam.
3- Wade has the same lawyer as Sean Miller. From everything made public, Miller should have been fired long ago from what we know. He has gone nowhere. I am pretty sure Arizona hasn't even received an NOA. This leads me to believe that the lawyer has leverage on the NCAA. Imagine if the lawyer paid an aau coach to wear a wire while speaking to a high profile coach or coaches, resulting in a highly incriminating recording of a major coach with his hand in the cookie jar. How in demand would you be as a lawyer with the NCAA over a barrel. Heck, you might even be able to get a coach like Wade who is in deep doo doo to pay you top dollar to keep the NCAA at bay, while he continues to wreck shite.
I truly believe we have a young coach who is pissing off the big coaches and programs, and those parties are using their minions (vitale, forde, wolken) to smear our coach, who is doing nothing more than beating everybody ar their own game.

The answer to the question is "we don't know"?
This is a unique situation in terms of NCAA investigations as the alleged violations are not just limited to one or two schools, but several schools all at once. Basically, it exposed that the "rule breaking" is systemic, not the actions of a rouge program/coach. And while they won't admit it, the NCAA KNEW all along what was going on. So do they start to gut its (the NCAA) most lucrative sport (the NCAAT accounts for nearly 80% of the NCAA's revenue), one that has been declining in interest since the 1990's?
It is hard to think LSU/Wade comes away "unscathed". But it's not that unreasonable to think they might. The NCAA has never been a model of consistency from an enforcement standpoint, and other big programs have had some far more unsavory transgressions they "survived" (Louisville was literally providing prostitutes for recruits). UNC essentially created fake classes for their athletes over a period of two decades and the basketball program (who the fake classes benefited the most) suffered no penalties whatsoever.

I just hope our AD will stand behind the coach and let him continue if the allegations are baseless and won’t amount to anything. Can’t give Dick Vitale any more wins.

Hoping someone close to Cisse reads TD?

I have always thought this will have to be handled like steroids in baseball from 15 years ago. The AAU is so out of control and there are so many coaches involved that the NCAA will just have to draw a line in the sand on how this is handled from this point forward, with only penalties for past extremely egregious tactics.
They can't take down Wade without going after Duke, Kansas and so many others.

No. Just fire him now. Sure he's a good coach, but not good enough to justify crippled by probation again. I grew up watching our awful probation-era teams, thank god Brady took the job bc I don't many others were willing

We will escape with nothing done to us.
1. You do realize that we made Mark who he is so he won’t touch us
2. He is closely tied to Scott, how do you think that dynamic would work if mark puts Scott in danger of losing his dream as job?

Unless someone talks that hasn't already. Like the bag man or a recruit that wasn't on the radar in any of this I don't think anything happens. They interviewed Smart and family and found nothing, they interviewed Wade and got nothing. Unless there is something we don't know they don't have enough to sanction LSU IMO.
