That is because how poor people here lives. Diseases spread through behavior, not status.
You mean in more sanitary and less crowded conditions in our urban areas?

We've saved a lot of lives too, no doubt. That's a valid way to look at the public health response.
OP's point about why we're doing relatively poorly compared to our world reputation is a good question, though. There's a lot about this that's just a feature of that we're set up to get slammed by a pandemic - our economy is massively networked to the world with huge amounts of international travel, so if a bug breaks out somewhere it's here quickly. We have low levels of public trust. We're suspicious of public health information. There are plenty of reasons we've had a tough time with this.

It isn’t, because we aren’t.

I noticed one thing you don’t mention is that many nations are conducting very few tests. The entire nation of Nigeria has conducted 142 tests. You don’t have Corona deaths if you don’t test for Corona...

Right. Don't take a temperature if you don't want to find a fever, as they say. Perhaps we're not really underperforming because we're doing so much casefinding.
You can control for differing levels of testing by looking at endpoints that even developing countries are likely to measure, like all-cause mortality. Countries handling the pandemic well have no appreciable increasing in overall mortality, whereas you'll notice certain countries with significant spikes of many excess deaths compared to pre-pandemic baselines.

No we’ve delayed a lot of deaths, everyone will be exposed over time, its up to each individual immune system what happens next.

we're hoping to keep people alive until we've got proven treatments and a vaccine available, yes.

Perhaps? It’s not really a question, just a fact. Google Corona deaths in Mexico or in Nigeria or in any other impoverished nation. Story after story of how they aren’t testing and how its very likely their number if deaths are underreported a hundreds or a thousand fold. This is intentional. It’s not being discussed openly in the broadcast media while lamenting how “bad we are doing” is also intentional.

If it makes you feel better that we're really not doing worse than developing countries, that's fine. It's just not typically how we've evaluated ourselves. We've tended to pride ourselves in having an excellent response, and it's hard to say that's what this is.

How many “assumed” deaths do we have though?!? Pennsylvania took 200 off there list a few weeks ago. Colorado took 300 off theirs! If every state started backtracking and eliminating assumed Covid deaths our numbers would drop drastically!

In some countries they don't count nursing home deaths as covid, but instead they count it as whatever put them in the hospital.
In NYC, they used excess deaths to increase their total by 8k. There was an excess of cardiac deaths because people wouldn't go to the hospital.

Now wanting accurate data to discuss something is described as just “making me feel better”? We, as in those outside of NYC, haven’t been terribly impacted. Maybe if they’d have taken it seriously they wouldn’t have been. They shipped in infected people into nursing homes, kept subways open to all, etc. if it makes you feel better to paint the US healthcare system, it’s workers, and it’s public health officials as failures, proceed.

Are any US states known to this group to be counting deaths the right way?

Of course not the virus has become politicalized just like every other aspect of our country, lockdown proponents will count every death that even hints at covid as a covid death.

If you can't find anything to argue over but my lack of originality, I suppose I'm doing alright.

Where is the data on developing countries you spoke of? All I see are developed countries.
