Gullibility is not a virtue
quote:
While conspiracy theories are not confined to a specific segment of the population, we are mostly concerned with Christians sharing conspiracy theories. Too often our commuity has been too easily fooled, and too much is inappropriately shared.
At their root, conspiracy theories are illogical and embarrassing. The audacity of recent COVID-19 conspiracy theories demands that President Donald Trump, Republicans and Democrats in Congress, the media, and the scientific community are all in league together. More outlandishly, they ascribe the virus to secret plans to end religious liberty, to connect a potential vaccine to the mark of the beast, and loop in 5G towers as a bizarre bonus.
quote:
At the core of the issue is the need for Christians to recognize how conspiracy theories actively hurt our Christian witness. When Christians indulge conspiracy theories, we damage our credibility. While some might see this as unimportant, our credibility to know and profess the truth lies at the core of our witness, whether we are effective evangelists for what we believe is the truth. Central to our faith is our profession that Jesus dwelt among us as fully God and fully man, died on the cross that we might be forgiven, and was raised and now reigns. We believe these things in truth, not as a moralistic story.

Conspiracy theories exist because our government is evil and lies to us on a regular basis.

It’s often hard to tell who’s more obnoxious: evangelical Christians or evangelical atheists.

Yep, those pesky Christians are at it again...

How to spot a religious agenda lol. Until transparency is provided, people will be left to draw their own conclusion.

Would Russian collusion be an example of this? The dossier? Are these the kind of things you are talking about?

It isn't paranoia if the world is actually out to get you.

Democrat kooks believed the Russian conspiracy theory. I’m a Christian and not even sure which straw man conspiracy theories I am supposed to believe. As if it needs to be said, Christians are capable of critical thought.

Until they're not...the Gulf of Tonkin and a few others would like to have a word with you.

Christians arguing for not taking someone else’s word at face value? Interesting.
Most “conspiracies” are probably false. All “religions” are probably false.
Don’t believe that 9/11 was an inside job (it was by the way) but believe that a virgin conceived the son of god and he was later killed, came back to life, and went back to heaven. Along the way he raised the dead, gave the blind sight, and turned water to wine (would be awesome). You should believe 2/3 of the world’s population are heathens and will spend an eternity in a pit of fire because they haven’t been “reborn” into your belief. Their gods are false and yours is not because...
Just interesting.
