Question for people that wear contacts

Been wearing contacts for 20 years, never even heard of hard contacts

My stepdad wears hard contacts, but I’ve never seen anyone else wear them.

I have astigmatism in both eyes which causes my contacts to cost twice as much as regular contacts. Still never paid more than $115-120 for a “6 month supply” that lasted me a year.

Gas permeable?

We called them hard lenses
I think they are supposed to be easier for kids, I wore them for years before switching to soft lenses

Had LASIK so I don’t need them anymore but I preferred hard over soft

$325 for a year is a little high. I’ve used Williamson Eye Center, Walmart, and Target in the past. Walmart and Target are cheap and as long as I don’t have anything wrong, I go there to get contacts. Much cheaper.

Hard contacts are so easy to break and unless something has changed from 20 years ago cost a shite ton to replace every time you break one

I’m 35. Got glasses in 3rd grade. Upgraded to hard, gas permeable contacts in 5th grade. They were awful, but I guess all that was around at the time. You lose or break one and you’re screwed, at least back then. I made the switch to soft when I was about 25. For me, it was like coming in out of the rain. I ordered them out of pocket online with a script for a 2 year supply was only like $100 or so if I remember right. That’s not for daily disposal which is a total rip off. Mine are Accuview Oasis. They are good for about 2 weeks-month. I take them out every night. I love them

ETA: just ordered that 2 year supply a few months ago. So that price is pretty current. Also, I pushed it and didn’t take my contacts out for like a week and slept in them. Got an eye ulcer and had to wear my glasses for 2 weeks. So be sure to take them out every night

I know dailies are supposed to be more expensive, but never used them myself.

I spend about 250 a year on the 2 week ones, without insurance for acuvue oasys
