Anybody else all in for this?

I know we have some fans of the movie. For those who haven’t seen if, it’s hilariously odd, and also pretty stupid. But kinda awesome at the same time. I really enjoyed it.

Based on the commercials, I think there are about 1,000 cars on the train in the show. Also looks like they have several scenes of the movie in there as well.

I’m weirdly pumped about this for some reason. Anybody else?

Really enjoyed the movie. Have no idea how they can make a series out of it.

Sadly, Jennifer Connelly is looking a little long in the tooth in the promos

Rich people cartoonishly evil and racist. Unless they befriend a poor, then they are revolutionaries.

Poor people saintly good and oppressed. Unless they side with the rich, then evil.

Donald Trump stand-in as the head of the evils.

and. . .action

Not saying the show will be bad, I enjoyed the movie. . .but we all know the route the show will go.

For frick’s sake. Can you take three steps without feeling persecuted? It’s based on a 1982 graphic novel. Kudos to the Democrats who built a time machine, went back to 70’s France, learned the language and built new identities before writing their anti-Trump manifesto in a foreign language.

No Kudos, they should have used their time machine to kill Hitler instead.

I guess I don’t see the point after Tilda crushed it in the villain role and Evans did the anti-hero dirty work well.

I want it to be good. More than likely it will/should be a prequel about the beginnings of the train + the first rebellion we hear about when ammo supposedly ran out.

TNT I’m pretty sure.

And I have no idea how this will be different from the movie. I even alluded to that in my OP. But surely there have to be storylines to fill some episodes. There are 1,000 cars for chrissakes.

And don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect this to be good good. More like bad good similar to the movie. The movie seemed so overt and ridiculous to me. But I really liked it though. Hoping for the same thing with the show.

I can't wait for it to start so they can stop showing the commercials for it. It looks awful. The whole premise is dumb. Why would a train survive? How would all the tracks stay intact? Who is repairing them? Trains can't run through artic terrain with massive snow/ice formations. None of it makes sense..

The movie made a point of NOT being like this.

The movie had a fantastic director

This is a TV show.

Everyone can keep pretending it isn't going to be how we KNOW it's going to be, though.

The naivete is cute

Now it will be TV show written in 2020, by writers in 2020. . .using character inspirations from 2020.

Step down from your damn high horse, we've seen all your virtue.

The show was written over three years ago, it was filmed over two years ago, and was originally scheduled to air over one year ago. The reason to suspect crummy quality is the unexplained delays, suggesting a shite-show production.

I disagree with your reasoning, not your conclusion. I know you think that everything made from 1940 to 2020 that says even one bad thing about capitalism is anti-trump, but that's dumb. And when you type dumb things, I refute them.

Predicting that the show will have class divide stuff when we've already seen the movie doesn't make you look smart. And being flippantly mad that the show will probably share a basic theme with its source is nonsensical. Yeah there's probably going to a capitalist big-wig who's fine with slave-labor at the front of the TV show's train, just like there was in 1982 and 2013. Not every capitalist in every TV show is Trump. That some viewers want to accuse every single bad guy of being a Trump analog speaks to what kind of shallow analysis that viewer is capable of. Yes, there are analogs out there. And maybe this will be a short-sighted, poorly-written TV show that includes one (even though the original outline for the series was written in 2015), but I'm smart enough to know that I don't know this.

Oh, and the pilot director was Scott Derrickson, whose Doctor Strange film was (inexplicably) enjoyed by many here. That's another potential knock against the show for me, but that should be a good thing for many.

Where is this train going?

It just rides around forever?

Must be crazy long tracks?
