Contact Tracing

Can someone please explain to me why contact tracing matters.
Braxton tests positive for Covid. Braxton has been in contact with Jayden, Brayden, Bryson, and Jaxton. Jayden has been in contact with Beau, Nash, Destiny and Tye. Brayden has been in contact with Deshawn, Tifanay, Aspen and Kayden. Bryson has been in contact with Cade, Jayse, Kaycie and Marlie. Jaxton has been in contact with Baylee, Horizon, Brees and Steve.
Contact tracing could encompass every single person to some degree. You're not going to force everyone to self quarantine because they may have come in contact with someone who was in contact with someone who may have been exposed. Why the frick does it matter.

It makes people feel "safer". There's literally no way to actually do it in a population of this size and this free, but all that matters is people feel safe.

Your scenario is correct if someone is contagious immediately after exposure and highly social. Contact tracing that many people would be difficult.
But since it takes several days for you to be transmissible since exposure, that effort is much more manageable.
In fact, this is exactly how South Korea was able to stamp out their initial surge. So there’s proof it works.

Last I heard it involves privacy concerns by using Bluetooth to determine via short range connections who you come into contact with and reporting that information. Basically an invasion of privacy.

It was in France as early as December 2nd.

It's for plaintiffs lawyers to be able to gin up rediculous lawsuits on the grounds that such n such business was negligent causing their client to contract covid

South Korea is a very different society than our own. It’s also a fair amount smaller.

Contact tracing is a proven public health tool that has been used for years. Maybe not at this scale, though.

Contact Tracing was developed in part by Dr. Anthony Fauci and the Bill Gates foundation. It is currently being taught as part of Stem and PLTW programs in schools that are certified to teach the programs.
