I guess I'm just dumb but the more tests done, the more cases will go up. It would seem that hospitalizations would be the thing to look at. This is the lowest hospitalization number we've had since April 2 if I looked at it correctly.

What am I not getting? Cases will keep going up and he will keep extending the two weeks!

Um, that sort of logic and critical thinking is frowned upon, young lady.

Yay, we did more tests so we could find a few more cases so we could make up foolishness to extend the shutdown.

Do you think they'll release any stats on the outcome? You said voluntary right?

healed vs new cases?

You have to basically do your own math and assumptions. So far, it appears they plan to update the healed once a week.

27,660 active cases
1,802 deaths
17,303 (recovered as of 4/26)

8,555 Active cases based on data provided. Enter assumptions

Recovered data is 3 days old. 21 days from 4/26 is 4/05. New cases:
4/06 - 1,857
4/07 - 1,417
4/08 - 746

4,535 Active cases
1,629 in Hospitals
2,906 people terrorizing the villagers (wonder how many of these are in the nursing homes)

Have they defined "Healed"? Are they tracking down every Case and testing twice?

I just checked in with our admin -- the few who were negative are now showing signs and I didn't ask but assume that they will be reswabbed. I'll be surprised if we don't end up with nearly 100% infection rate of residents.

Did you see the Advocate story about the nursing home in New Roads lying about positive cases?
Advocate

"And they have misled family members of the people who were in there. For weeks, they were told, 'We don't have any cases.' For weeks, they were told, 'Everything is fine,'" he said.

That is what prisons and nursing homes are for. If necessary he may get an infected cruise ship to dock in NOLA.

I believe it's 21 days with no symptoms

It would be bad practice to assume all positive cases are resolved in three weeks.

Most public know example contrary was the maitre d at Clancy's. He was on a vent for around 3 weeks.

The 21 day recovery in the state's numbers only apply if the patient wasn't later tracked in a hospital.

It was voluntary but I had someone I know call in the orders for me...they will only release the results to me and the person that called the orders in

I think it's either 21 days since the positive test with no symptoms, or two consecutive negative tests.

I don’t see how they can do mass testing in nursing homes without also testing staff
I know where my Grandpa is at has a staff shortage right now

We're going to start proactively testing high risk areas to get the spike in cases we need to continue the lockdown.

The expanded testing needed to reopen is a self fulfilling prophecy. With the asymptomatic carriers being so wide spread as proven by antibody testing if you test more people you're going to come away with more cases. But things aren't necessarily worse. Hospital numbers are what they should base decisions off of.

Rolling Averages. I added the 3-day line since apparently, LDH has used this in other pieces...just so we can see what they're referencing:

I know someone through work
April 3rd he was reduced to 50% on vent
From what I was told he was on it at 100% 5 days prior
April 8 was told he was off the vent

Supposed to be released from hospital tomorrow

That’s around 6 weeks but I’m not sure how accurate that timeline is or how long he was sick before hospital
