Sharon seems to be the only one doing anything with that petition, the rest of those cowards are sitting on their hands like useless school children.

Normally I would tend to agree with you, but the fact that JBE's administration is responding to this as well as the radio interview tells me there must be some considerable movement on this behind the scenes.

It must be hard for Louisiana politicians to keep on a somber face whenever there’s a bad hurricane or an oil spill whenever you know deep down they pray for it every year so we can get funding.

No.

ETA: Opening the state up will not effect SBA loans or PPP.

Wouldn't need that if we could get back to work. It wouldn't stop funding for the dates of the declaration.

The state superintendents asked him to cancel school for the remainder of the year. I assume if the legislature overturns the order the superintendents could still cancel school. However, if the order is overturned, does this do away with the waiver of students having to make up the seat time?

What are they going to do when they get there? you think teachers just have a curriculum and lesson plans laying around prepared for 3 months of school at the drop of a hat?

From Poli Board

Ted James FB

quote:

We stand to lose millions in federal funding should the Governor's emergency order be terminated. The Stafford Act requires that the Governor declare an emergency and certify that the emergency has overwhelmed the state and local resources. By declaring that there is no longer an emergency, the state would be risking the funding that is available through the FEMA public assistance program. (Lawyers are further reviewing if the termination of an emergency declaration would jeopardize any funding through the CARES Act or SBA loans)

They are just trying to scare people, fear of the virus is gone so they are now going after their money

That’s Louisiana for you. Forget about employment and small business; can’t let those federal dollars go!

At the very least, I think it would affect the extra $600 people are getting for unemployment.

Wait, wait...I thought we were trying to save lives?

At least NOW they're being transparent about their motivation for the extension. I'm so fricking tired of the fear mongering.

Government is literally fricking this entire thing up. - Paying out more money for states that have to stay locked down longer. No way governors would ever abuse that. - Paying hospitals 20% more for Covid patients than normal patients. No way hospital administrators would ever abuse that and inflate their Covid numbers.

Time to start weaning states who qualify for reopening off the teet
