Saw an article over the weekend that said if/when we develop a COVID-19 vaccine; it will be the first vaccine to cure/treat any of the COVID viruses.

In the very first scientific analysis I listened to about COVID back in February, the epidemiologist (actually a national vaccine expert-- I'll have to find his name) said, if the plan is to wait for a vaccine and that's the 18-month period I keep hearing about, then people need to get real. 18 months is a pipedream for a safe, public-ready vaccine.

See, this is the problem. Vaccinations are a preventative measure, not a treatment or cure. That's the whole point of vaccination, so your body develops antibodies against a weakened or ineffective version of the virus. This way if you are infected, your immune system knows how to fight it. It's futile to vaccinate someone already infected.
It's funny how the media portrays themselves as so smart and an authority on anything but can't get something taught in a high school biology class right.

A number of common cold viruses that are also CoV have been around since recorded history began - no vaccine.
SARS and MERS have been around almost a decade. No vaccine.
Wuhan is literally SARS 2.0.
