When someone tells you a story that you don’t find to be funny

Do you...
A. Give a fake chuckle laugh
B. Blank stare and say nothing
C. Say out loud “that is funny”
D. Smile and shake your head
E. Follow up with a quick question on the story
I use to do A every time but now I do B or D everytime.

Pretty much always A, but don’t let there be a kicker after the supposed punchline because then you’ll have already hit the crescendo of your fake chuckle too soon and extending it gets really awkward.

Doesn't matter if their story is funny or not. My go to response is always "Well, one time I....." and then I tell some story that is better than theirs. I'm a blast to hang out with though.
