Do we really need to spend gobs of money on brick and mortar schools?

Isn't all of remote schooling demonstrating that traditional school will go the way of the horse and buggy?
Also, teachers can be safe from violent students and students will be safe from Mass school shooting.
Seems like a win-win to me.

I don't think I've met a parent yet that says remote schooling is going great. Especially any parent that is also having to still work remotely themselves.
And yeah, as already mentioned, once the parents go back to work who is going to watch the kids while they remotely learn?

Actually there is more transparency. Parents get to watch what is being taught.
Some teachers have already complained of this because they would prefer the parents not know everything.

There will still need to be some brick and mortar for those professions where field instruction is needed: the physical and biological sciences, engineering, medical professions, and forestry among them.
For many others, very limited (even business classes can be taken online with everything on a cloud).

Are webinars and zoom meetings going to replace sales calls for outside sales reps?
I mean, I think technology is great and doing this virtually gets the job done but at some point you have to realize you don’t build long-standing relationships over a laptop.
Same with schools. It’s hard to replicate face to face interactions that you get with brick and mortar schools with at home learning.

school is not just about education, but socialization.
I say that as someone who hates the current public/government school system.
I could see public schools going to a hybrid system (some on campus and some distance learning) as part of a transition to year-around schooling

Lulz. My son is 3rd grade and the math they do has a lot of stuff as the freshman algebra class I took in college a few years ago. Learning about the properties and other stuff.
Education needs a complete overhaul. All the stuff they send home could be done in a day. Teachers are saints though because they take care of our kids most of the day and have to teach more than 1 student.

This is wildly idiotic and false! I beg my students’ parents to get involved in their children’s education. They don’t give a shite. I’m a baby sitting service for them.

I could see this.
Have a rotation where half the students are remote and half on campus. Flip flop every other week or something like that.
Taxpayers could save 50% on building and maintaining expensive infrastructure.

I ve never met a homeschooled kid that wasnt social awkward or just plain wierd as frick. I'm sure they are some well adjusted ones...I just never met any.

The hybrid approach wouldn't be the same as home schooling. The curriculum would still be uniform across students and they would on and off campus on a rotating schedule.
Also, the athletics would still occur after school.
