I’m a little confused on why just a one year contract. I’m sure that’s what he wanted, but I feel like we all think Brees will play this year and next. If he had any shot at being the QB of the future, you’d want a two year deal.
That being said...Wowza!!! Jameis Winston is a spoiled child who has never faced real adversity and his personality is kind of reflective of that. But, he is one of the handful of people on this earth that was created to be a quarterback (like Brett Favre or Dan Marino). His mental side just needs to be molded to catch up to his physical side. If that happens, he will be amazing. Let’s hope him sitting and learning and him being let go from the Buccaneers will be a wake up call that motivates a change.
Great signing. Low risk-Potential enormous reward.

He’s also never not been the man. He’ll be so far down the totem pole in New Orleans, he’ll barely be visible. Will do him some good.

Exactly they let him build bad habits. Guy went 1st overall for a reason and I believe him when he said his eyes were bad. He’s always squinting on the sidelines, very believable.
He can play he just needs a teacher like Sean to slow him down.
Remember Patrick Mahomes admitted he couldn’t read a defense and he won MVP lol give this guy a chance.

I like it. I think he’s a lot better than Bridgewater

Looks like he and Teddy did talk lol.
Love the signing. No risk and extremely high reward.
Tampa fans can watch Brady get old and JW getting better.
Good Sunday morning.

First, brees is only playing this year. Second, this gives jameis flexibility to be a backup here, and if he garners a little positive attention, may get a deal somewhere else next year, or he may beat out taysom here and re-sign

rooks had no where near the physical talent of JW.
Just not true at all. Brooks had elite arm strength and maybe a better runner (when he decided to run with authority)
Brooks was willie beaman. First year success went to his ego and he thought he was hot shite

Funny that people on the board want Blake Bortles over Jameis. One has lead the NFL in passing yards and one hasn't

I am OK with this. If Brees got hurt we have a legit option now.

You don’t want to sign him long term incase he doesn’t work out. Gives them a year to evaluate and could just cut him if they don’t like him. Could also be a guy they are just bringing on as insurance. Honestly I think this will be good for both parties. This whole offseason has to be kind of humbling for him. And to go from competing against Brees to sitting on the bench behind him bc your team or other teams didn’t want you

Agreed, and one that knows conference opponents well.

Rap Sheet saying Winston turned down more money from another team.

Well an option to give opposing defenses confidence

So why jump back into the draft to get a QB?

To our credit a lot of us predicted this... I’m thrilled
