Anyone got any last minute rental info? Trying to get something off the big sites for next weekend but the fees are outrageous. Florida’s rental by owner site is currently down

We found a place in Laguna Beach, FL for $170/night. Two bedrooms, full kitchen, nice patio, and about a block from the beach. Used Airbnb. Ended up being a little over $900 for a three night stay.
But yeah it looked like everything else was way overpriced. Studios in Seacrest that were ~$150/night last year are going for at the very least $200/night right now. Add in the excessive fees and you're looking at $1000 to be crammed into a very small room if you have kids.

Just about anything you can find on VRBO; AirBnB, etc can be found on a separate rental agency website if you google the name of the house/condo. Typically you can save $500-1000 in fees.

Exactly. Our management company uses VRBO as an advertising tool. When a family books via that route they will offer them a deal to come back next year if they go directly through the mgmt company. Its not really a loss as they are just discounting the VRBO fees.

Just crossed Florida state line. They aren’t even stopping people to fill out forms. Just waving them through the weigh station

Hell yeah, thanks for the info. The fees on those sites double the advertised nightly rate at times, it’s mind blowing

I do it because it is a saving but I’ve never found savings that high.
I find you generally just save the VRBO/AIRBNB fee. All other cleaning/admin/resort/management fees will be on every listing site.

Well I’ve definitely seen savings that high looking for stuff this summer but that probably has to do with the type of rental I was looking for; house with 6+ bedrooms. I would imagine the more expensive listings have higher VRBO/AirBnB fees

Our current 4 BR Miramar Beach house saved ~$230 in fees.
Maybe some places also inflate their VRBO nightly rate to cover the fees VRBO charges them, that would probably bump up savings another few hundred.

Absurd that Florida governor would ban Louisiana residents when right now it would seem that Texas, Alabama, North Carolina among others would have a much higher percentage of current positive cases.
Those states have tested less than half the amounts of people Louisiana has and have much higher recent Rt reproduction numbers.

Drive to Orange Beach today. Hit the tunnel around noon and didn’t even have to tap the breaks. It’s glorious out here. More boats on the water than I’ve ever seen

We rented a house on a dune lake in Seagrove, place is cool. Different beach scene than we’ve had before on 30A.

Just got to destin. Stopped at lulus for a drink. It’s like normal. Shits poppin

There are more people on the beach than I have ever seen.
I think it’s a combination of the spring break reschedules and the fact that there is still not much to do outside of the beach. Many stores, etc are still closed.

The beaches today are insane. You could swing a dead cat and hit 50 people in every direction

Hope it’s worth it fellas

Y’all think somewhere like Laguna or Sunnyside is crowded as well?
I was told by a friend to not book there because there’s not much to do, but I’m looking forward to not much to do. Especially if we can avoid the jam packed crowds (not because of corona).
