I actually agree with pretty much all this. I tend to think that Minter is super underrated but maybe I’m overrating him. I’m trying to combine my opinion with crowdsourcing from posters to get the final roster. I’m open to constructive criticism. If anyone disagrees with someone I list I will definitely welcome listening to their argument for why their choice is a better option.
I’m pretty much trying to lean on college production over NFL production.

Chad Lavalais was the most dominant defensive tackle I’ve seen at LSU. If LSU had a high preseason ranking in 2003 like they did in 2007, Lavalais would have won every award that Dorsey won.

Dixon was very good too and would have flourished with Burrow at QB.

First off this is predicated by stating, I’m old as dirt. Secondly, I’ve tried to consider the athlete above their peers and how dominating they were. For example, I left off the greatest full back in our history because he didn’t always “fit” starting 11. Hard to do when they were so important to the game for so long. So my list includes 1 extra player on each side to allow flexibility. I also tried to project their natural positions in the modern game.
This was HARD to do.

QB - Burrow (it is close between him and Jones IF you give them the same offense.
Hodson would have killed in this offense too. Tittle would have lit this up today. Dude was a passing machine for his time. It was air raid for that era to put it into perspective.

RB - Cannon (most of you never met him. If you did you would see why he played TE in the NFL and how fast he really was). Stovall and Faulk are close seconds
FB - Taylor (depends on the offense)

TE - Lafleur (Really wanted to put Billy Cannon here as well as Brian Kinchen and Robert Royal on that list. And to the guy that talked about Thad Moss, sorry kid but all these guys were far better)

Center - Mawae

Guards - Faneca, Andolsek

Tackles - Whitworth, Collins

WR - Chase, Davis, Landry

Defense (3-4)
Line: Henry Thomas, Dorsey, Kyle Williams,
Backers: White, Brooks, Eric Hill, Capone (probably the best most have never seen on here)
Corners: Peterson, Stingley (and I’m OLD. This kid has skills like I’ve never seen)
Nickle: Mathieu, Daniels (when they run drop 7 zone-match coverage)

Safeties: Casanova (putting him here because of his size and athleticism. He could be a hybrid safety/LB today and was one the best overall defensive player in LSU history until Stingley takes his place), Mathieu, ( when they run nickel coverage).

Punter; Wing
Kicker: Browndyke

Kick returner: Faulk
Punt Returner: (I would put Mathieu, but he is being protected) Todd Kinchen (he was close to being one of my receivers)

Man that runningbacks pool is tough to choose from. We've had to many beast back there. Faulk, Fournette, and Jeremy Hill are my top picks. If only Hill could've stayed one more year, him and Fournette in the backfield that year could have been just unfair to deal with.

I know. What I did was type them on a list by group and thought about what position would fit them best today with their size and speed. The game has changed so much over the last 50+ years that I’ve watched that it is hard to make a single list. Maybe doing it by decade would have been better/easier.
For example, Cannon could have easily be put him at TE and not RB. He was great at one in college and excellent at the other in the Pros. Mawae played 1 year of center at LSU, so how would that make him the best ever? He only had a single year. A lot of these guys played multiple positions and those positions were not always well defined. HB could be a great receiver like Cannon, Faulk and Clyde EH was this past season. If you think about it Guice would have been brilliant as an HB with this offense.

Steve Van Buren was a cut and paste error - Thanks for the catch!. Wanted to run a zone and had him in at rb but somehow pasted him here and completely left Daniels off the list.
