Gotta love the OT. OP asks for personal accounts, I give a personal account, get downvoted for doing so.

Who are they turning away exactly? People who don't know where they're going maybe?

Just tell them you are going to new Mexico or Arizona.

That’s not what the order says. It says you can go back to Louisiana anytime you want.

They're not turning away anyone as I understand it. You fill out the road travel form on the DPS website and if they stop you you just hand it them.

They can’t.

They wanted to know where we were coming from and what we were doing in Texas. My daughter had a necessary procedure in Houston and we had a doctor’s note.

The officer didn’t check the note when I offered it to him or ask any other questions and sent us on our way.

Exactly right. More specifically, New Orleans is a scapegoat.

You have to self-quarantine for 14 days, or for the duration of your stay in Texas, whichever is shorter. If you plan to only stay one day, you can turn right around and leave. Texas isn’t forcing you to stay for 2 weeks if you only plan to be there for a day or so.

The self-quarantine is a bit of a pain in the arse for Texas residents trying to return home from Louisiana, but if you fill out the form ahead of time, the stop takes 2 minutes max.

And Texas has a population of roughly 30 million people while Louisiana has around 5 million people. So no, they are not testing nearly at the rate of Louisiana.

No they aren't. No one is being told to turn around from my understanding. They are just asking where you will be staying and are asking that you self quarantine

Also, if you're really concerned about them "tracking where you are", tell them you are going somewhere and only staying a day, and coming back, regardless of how long you are staying there. It's fricking stupid, there is no way they are wasting time checking if you really went where you told them you were going.

For what? We shouldn’t have invited the world to a 2 week long street party at the beginning stages of a pandemic.

I live in Texas.

Texas has 6 times the population of Louisiana but has only done 22% more tests? Louisiana has tested nearly 2% of its entire state population. Which means they are going to find a lot more asymptomatic cases. Texas has tested not even a fourth of 1 percent of their population.

Sounds like Louisiana is doing a significantly better job of testing to me. Which goes back to my original point that Abbott is using Louisiana as a political shield.

There is no reason for these checkpoints except for politics. Louisiana is a scapegoat. It’s bullshite.

Slightly more tests, with significantly fewer positives. What more is there to say other than one state had a much larger breakout. Asymptomatic cases don't account for 334% more deaths than a state 6 times their population.

This is correct. It’s called the privilege and immunities clause. It’s in the constitution.

They are not. No one is being denied entrance to Texas or any other state.
