China has plenty of KN95 masks available
Amazon has them listed BUT the ship date says like May 15th or some shite. A couple of Chinese peeps were leaving comments in the "questions" section saying they will try to get them out this month. Even so, still too late.

If it's not an N95 your wasting your time wearing it.
All these dumbasses wearing pollen masks are comical.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not recommend that people who are well wear a face mask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including coronavirus (COVID-19).
quote:
If worn properly, a surgical mask is meant to help block large-particle droplets, splashes, sprays, or splatter that may contain germs (viruses and bacteria), keeping it from reaching your mouth and nose. Surgical masks may also help reduce exposure of your saliva and respiratory secretions to others. While a surgical mask may be effective in blocking splashes and large-particle droplets, a face mask, by design, does not filter or block very small particles in the air that may be transmitted by coughs, sneezes, or certain medical procedures. Surgical masks also do not provide complete protection from germs and other contaminants because of the loose fit between the surface of the face mask and your face.

No, you are not wasting your time. Any protection is better than none. Just because it's not 95% of particulates doesn't mean it doesn't stop anything, 0%. Make yourself feel better for not wearing anything until it hits closer to you.

Literally every mask being made is going to hospitals or government.
Well, that wasn’t true until a day ago, unless you’re talking about foreign hospitals and foreign governments. While the US was short of supplies, we were still giving away PPE as part of foreign aid.

I've got 3 that I use for mowing grass in March. March is over. They're yours for the paltry sum of $499.

I got one, but I'm "Essential". Guess you can die with no ill effects on the world.

N-95 needs to be fitted. They have not determined if this is an aerosolized (airborne) pathogen.
At UW in Seattle they are wearing normal surgical masks unless they are in treatment rooms using nebulizers on positive patients.
ETA: to be clear N-95 are only required for airborne pathogens. In hospital all other pathogens (droplet) use of surgical mask is appropriate for Infection Prevention

A bandana will work fine. That’s what the more conscientious meth heads use when cooking meth behind their single wides.

Yes, and the good part about this is two people can use it at the same time!

Surgical masks do not prevent you from inhaling virus particles. N95's are required for that. Surgical masks do help (not completely prevent) you not to spray out virus particles when you, if infected, cough or sneeze.
I think the biggest problem with masks is that they give people a false sense of security and then people do things like go about their business totally like normal, touch their face more often, or use old or already contaminated masks.
