You bought it. Pay for it.

And start voting for people who would reign in costs of higher ed instead of those who measure quality of education by dollars spent.

I was in college from 2005-2014 getting three degrees. My part time job paid for everything for undergrad. My part time job plus GA position paid for my entire Master's program. I had to take out a loan when I started my first real job of about $16k to do my terminal degree as I had limited capital on hand.

I could have just not worked and lived it up and owed about $200k instead. I have friends who did similar and owe this much.

I worked and paid it. They did not. They should not be rewarded.

I'm against debt forgiveness in general. It punishes responsible behavior.

If you want to matriculate at Fancypants Academy, pay attention in class and get a scholarship there. Otherwise you can park your arse at Slow Learners or McNichols State or whatever.

I’m 30 years old and 4 years removed from college. I worked my arse off for 4.5 years to pay for college with zero dept.

And I going to be compensated for doing it the right way? Why am I getting fricked over for not taking out ludicrous loans to party and take vacations?

Every person that I’ve seen that actually wants student loan forgiveness has a degree in kinesiology and is a yoga instructor or majored in a foreign language and is an instagram influencer with 720 followers.

I have loans, albeit not large ones, and if it was forgiven I wouldn’t complain, but I knew what I was doing when I signed the dotted line.

In fairness, something like 90% of student loans are held by the federal government. Forgiving them technically costs nothing. It's just a book wiping.

You borrowed it... pay it back. Be responsible.

Because we’ve already paid for our own schooling, and don’t want to pay for your’s.

You chose to take on the debt. If you were smart and got a useful degree at an affordable university, you'll be set and able to pay it off fairly quickly. If you got a bullshite degree that cost $50k per semester, the taxpayers should not have to bail you out for making poor decisions.

Too many are in a bind because they just grabbed loans as free money with no regard of realistic earnings with which to pay it.

And too many who aren’t in a bind did so via sacrifice, either working in college, or giving up a lifestyle to pay off faster.
This. I lived like a grad student for one more year after finishing and paid off my loans in about 15 months.

How does it affect you and dont say showing responsibility. Most of you went and got a full 4 years degree for what we paid for a semester's meal plan
because we will have to pay for it... the cost of everything has gone up.....

and instead of student loans.. how a bout use the GI Bill.....

Can you imagine how pissed cavemen are that we live such great lives today? Really unfair to them. We shouldnt be allowed to have such long lifespans. Should all have to die at 30.

And so if I didnt get student loan forgiveness, you shouldnt either!

pay me the amount I paid off already in principle and interest. same with everyone else that was responsible.

then pay the average to every person who elected not to go to college and started working right away.

fair is fair, right?

Did you know the cost going in? So did we. And you can't compare costs to costs. Salaries (buying power) were lower in the past as well. You knew before you sent in the first application, before you paid the first tuition and before you took out the first loan what the costs would be. You made those decisions with eyes wide open.

YOU decided that it was in YOUR best interest to take out loans for college. Why should we pay for a decision you now regret and which may or may not benefit us or society as a whole? YOU made that decision. YOU should pay for it.

Are you in favor of forgiving what I owe on my mortgage? Didn't think so.

Sorry your Pops didn’t pay for your school . I will pay for undergrad for all three of mine . That’s just how I roll. It’s a choice. Just like your choice to borrow money and pay it back. Simple personal responsibility.

I'm 30 I'll have it paid off in a little more than 3 years. I already am going to be paying for the SS of the boomers while I'll probably get some pittance or anything once I retire. I'll be damned if I have to pay for younger people to go for free while I got fricked.

I’m in college now and I don’t want people to pay mine because there are many other things that are needed in our communities. Wasting billions (maybe trillions) of dollars on people to go party and get an art degree is stupid.

I’m getting an engineering degree and will pay all my debts off within a year of graduating. It’s not hard to be responsible and make smart decisions.
