Random thought - would doing extra cardio right now help if/when COVID attacks?

Seems the most common issue esp for older people is fluid build-up in the lungs due to infection/pneumonia.
Would encouraging 'fairly healthy' older people to do some intense cardio to strengthen their lungs prior to contracting the virus have a positive impact?
Just curious because I haven't heard any recommendations on things people can do to help prepare if this even makes sense.

Yes, right now would be the perfect time to start your marathon training.

I don’t think you understand how physiology works.
But to answer your question, no.

I doubt those who refuse to exercise prior to this will take it up, even now.

Doing things like getting enough sleep, eating well, and reducing stress levels would probably help.

If you see the Covid coming, you could run away really fast.
In general, the better physical health you're in, the higher your chance of surviving most serious health issues.

An Olympic swimmer from South Africa that got the virus has said that just walking now exhausts him for hours.
Idk if anything can really help if you get it and it’s a bad case.

Those with preexisting conditions that put them in a high risk group are unlikely to have any short term solutions that remove them from this group.
Hence, the recommendations to stay at home. Not run run run.

Lots of whiskey. Like they say, you gotta dehydrate.

It wouldn’t hurt. I wouldn’t overdo it but when your lungs are more efficient and your body processes oxygen better then if you contracted the virus it would give you more margin as opposed to a 70 year old lifetime smoker.
It won’t make you immune to the virus, but exercise is a proven immunity booster.

Exactly, and I would say taking Vitamin C doses, in my case 1000mg 3x per day, helps your immune system. Any boost to your immune system and over-all health certainly can't be a bad thing at any point in time.

What about the news that broke about taking D supplements this morning?

Yeah I had heard that as well. I think anything along the lines of standard vitamins like that are good to take. Often to get beneficial effects of certain vitamins, one has to take much higher amounts than the RDA. I would suggest researching doses and trying them out.

Vitamin D is fat soluble so I wouldn’t exceed the RDA.I hope people don’t start taking massive doses and kill themselves.
