Most ridiculous claims you've heard people make

I'll start with a topical one. One of my old high school teachers (graduated in 2012 so I was in his class less than a decade ago) has been claiming on facebook that COVID-19 will kill more Americans than all US wars combined and is using that to fuel his hatred of particular government officials. It's astonishing that someone who was once charged with educating people could make a claim so ridiculous. That'd be 1.1 Million deaths. There's no way this disease kills close to that many in the US.

A few here on TD.com predicted over 2 million deaths. I think MrPerfect was one of them.

To be honest, this is pretty incredible. America has lost less people in wars in her almost 250 years of existence than what many countries lost in just a year in the world wars.

When you think about it, it's not that crazy of a number. Some people are claiming the virus will spread to 70% of the population no matter what we do. The vast majority will be fine, but if you put the mortality rate at 0.5%, you get more than 1.1 million. 330,000,000 x 70% x 0.5% = 1,155,000.
Obviously, I hope that doesn't happen.

In a press conference in Washington, the US president said the danger to Americans “remains very low” and predicted that the number of cases diagnosed in the country, currently on 15, could fall to zero in a “few days”.

15 cases would be down to zero in a week.

The worst case scenario projections by an epidemiologist in London (I THINK) had us losing 2.2 million Americans. That was if everyone ignored everything and people decided to be selfish, as I think what was expected of Americans by people around the globe.
But we have hunkered down (aside from a few segments of the population), and we are seeing social distancing working as testing and PPE manufacturing ramps up. We need to keep doing this.
The entire world is looking at us and HOPING we fall. We are the big dog, and even our allies are sitting the in the wings hoping this turns into a disaster here. It seems like that won't happen, thankfully. This week will tell us a lot, and if the Senate can come to an agreement today, I think we will be in even better shape.

My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

I'm worried about russia. Lol
They're awfully quiet in this..sitting back and taking notes on how well a virus can collapse a country and not ruin any of the goods + you can deny blame.
Just..release it in china. World will now buy that anything would come out of there.
