Wall St Journal editorial.
As discussed on Fox Business this morning

No society can safeguard public health for long at the cost of its economic health."

Financial markets paused their slide Thursday, but no one should think this rolling economic calamity is over. If this government-ordered shutdown continues for much more than another week or two, the human cost of job losses and bankruptcies will exceed what most Americans imagine.

if you think economic depression won't affect health/lives, then your thinking machine broke

Well, the economy doesn’t matter much if you’re dead...
...and if significant numbers of people die, that creates its own recession/depression that takes a lot longer to recover from than a short shutdown.
So there’s that.

More people will die from long term economic downturn than this bullshite.
Lack of money =
Poor diet
Poor health
Lack of preventive care
Rise in substance abuse
Rise in domestic violence
Rise in childhood neglect
Which has direct health effects, as well as making people more susceptible to illness

very few major media outlets, and basically no governments, are saying this

I hope this is the prevalent message when this is over

It is the first break in the lockstep MSM march toward locking down the world's populations.
It is breaking news on Fox Business and other major outlets. You are a moron.

It’s just common sense... sometime in the near future, the human cost of the economic downturn will outpace the human cost of the actual virus.
Posted on 3/20/20 at 8:12 am to Buckeye Jeaux
Crashing the economy is going to be worse than the virus and overloading hospitals. People with money will profit off of the cheap stocks, people without money will get laid off and a $1500 check. Rinse/repeat.

I haven't said this in awhile, and it is harsh, but you (or your way of thinking, to be gracious) are truly what is wrong with this country.

There is logic in this. People are acting like this virus will extinguish the globe. Could it thin the herd, yes, but a lot of us have plans to go forward and people literally need the output of industry and commerce.
We probably have roughly a 30 day window to get this done. Beyond that, we will slip into a whole new level of nervousness.

There’s a chance it already has.

Good, more media outlets need to start beating this drum

It’s all a balancing act.

Hey, genius...what are people apt to do when unemployed and broke? They kill themselves. A complete economic shutdown can cause more death and destruction than the virus if we're not careful

the problem is how this virus affects us. you're either all in or it's pointless
