For decades the @CDCgov
looked at, and studied, its testing system, but did nothing about it. It would always be inadequate and slow for a large scale pandemic, but a pandemic would never happen, they hoped. President Obama made changes that only complicated things further.....

.... Their response to H1N1 Swine Flu was a full scale disaster, with thousands dying, and nothing meaningful done to fix the testing problem, until now. The changes have been made and testing will soon happen on a very large scale basis. All Red Tape has been cut, ready to go!

Trump needs to take responsibility. HE IS THE PRESIDENT NOW. He needs to start acting like it.

I am not being political (really), but Trump needs to take responsibility and stop blaming his predecessor. He has been President for over 3 years.

He reminds me of a manager or employee who consistently blames other people instead of taking personal responsibility. And you know what eventually happens to people who don't take responsibility... they get fired. TRUMP JUST DO YOUR JOB.

Donald, you are the President, start acting like it.

(Rant Over)

Why is he only fixing it now? He has been in office quite a while. Nobody was looking at these issues?

He is full of shite on this one, is he not?

I think this point is Obama went through similar crisis but then didn't cut the red tape leaving it for future presidents

I wouldn't say he's full of shite, but I don't think saying it's being fixed now is a great look. Kinda late.

Being realistic, considering the relative lack of help he has had in his White House, I'm not surprised at all that the CDC's policies and methods were not reviewed and improved in the past 3 years.

But like I say, bragging about fixing it now isn't what I would be doing.

Also they're beating up trump over this so you darn right he is punching back.

Nearly 13000 people died from the swine flu and we didn't have all this whining from the press...

We didn't close anything...

Trump wants fair and balanced treatment

That may be his point, but it won't be taken that way.

His admin has had 3 years to make sure we were prepared for another pandemic. Should have been a fairly high priority.

Yah I don't love this. Should have just linked to Rush's opening monologue yesterday instead.

This is not a good dunk. We've tested <10k so far vs. many hundreds of thousands of swine flu tests done by a similar point in the outbreak.

Not a good time to blame Obama when you’re trying to court black vote

I would say that he is, in spite of entrenched opposition. As for just discovering this now...
if I hired a troubleshooter to find problems, and an unexpected problem was found, I don't fire the troubleshooter. Instead I tell tgem to fix the problem.

You know what happens to companies that don't address issues but instead fire troubleshooters / whistleblowers?

They go out of business.

LET THE MAN DO HIS JOB.

Obama's administration tested a million people within the first month of the first H1N1 case in the us

How many have Trump's admin tested?

There are production issues beyond the CDC's protocols limiting when to test.
