Journalism malpractice right here. FCC should take them off the air.

Well thats dumb.

A 1% death rate is plenty enough to cause trouble, just as the CDC predicts.

MSNBC Expert Predicts Higher Mortality Rate if Coronavirus Becomes Widespread in U.S.

Virologist and MSNBC science contributor Dr. Joseph Fair said on Monday that 80 percent of the U.S. population would survive, with a 15 to 20 percent mortality rate amongst individuals that are elderly or have underlying conditions, if coronavirus becomes widespread.

Something needs to be done about this. We have enough stupid people in this country that will believe this crap.

The FCC needs to step in and start pulling some licenses of people trying to spark panic.

Trump supporters know their trick.

We are too smart to fall for it and abandon him.

Why is this being left out?

That doesn’t mean 15-20 mortality in the general population.

Right now it’s a 4% death rate in US

22 deaths out of 546 confirmed

Trumps tweet about the common flu this morning wasn’t his best moment. I get his point but the death rate is 50 times higher than the common flu.

Thats not how I understand what he's saying. The article says 15-20% of the elderly or people with underlying conditions.

Regardless, they are trying to make it seem bigger than it is by wording it that way.

This isnt out of line with what is being put out by the cdc, but it is not a 20% mortality across the board.

Most people have trouble understanding that though.

No. But:

quote:

Dr. Joseph Fair said on Monday that 80 percent of the U.S. population would survive,

suggests it. BTW, this doesn't appear to be a quote. So, I do not trust the "journalist" to have interpreted the statement accurately.

Sigh.
This is probably borderline accurate. It’s still malpractice.
