On the strand in South Bay, probably Hermosa Beach or Manhattan Beach. It's a little bit of a drive to Pasadena from there but well worth it.

That is a long trek. You have to factor in traffic and stops (like half moon bay), etc. But if you can do it during the week before, you should enjoy. But if anyone in your crew has a tendency to get car sick, make sure you are prepared.

When I went to the Saints game in LA this past September, UCLA was playing OU the night before. Poor OU fans bought tickets and UCLA was handing out free ones outside the Rose Bowl.
