I actually live in the Orlando area not far from Disney (Celebration/Reunion area) and the east 192 area that you are on is trash. 192 from Celebration and I-4 west is fine for the most part but 192 east of I-4 and Celebration it goes downhill quick.
I know exactly where Seralago is and it's a trash place. The problem is many hotels on 192 east have homeless populations and are more low end extended stay type places. I guarantee at Seralago you have a ton of people there who are actually living there.
I understand not wanting to pay $250-$300/night for a Disney resort but you can easily find a good middle ground. Especially now that all the runners are leaving (Disney Princess Half Marathon was on Sunday). Check some of the hotels on 535 near Disney Springs. It's higher quality Hilton and Marriott brands and it's mostly a tourist area.

Now it's that with the stipulation it's under 100 a day.
It's crazy how hard it is to find a safe, clean basic motel for under a hundred after most cities' absurd hospitality tax. I prefer motels for a quick stop on long road trip (hence the name motor-hotel).
One of the best deals in the entire country is Motel 6 downtown Santa Fe. Last time we stayed there it was $69/nt. Dog friendly.
It's surrounded by $350/nt hotels and a walk to restaurants, bars, shops, whole foods. And the clientele is of a much higher quality than your typical motel 6 guest. Lots of euros and outdoor types.
We stay there on our way up to Pagosa and beyond.
I was naive enough to think I'd have a similar experience in Austin once. We were surrounded by drug dealers and hookers. And I got harassed by a cop for drinking a canned beer on the stoop in front of our room. Y'all don't know what it's like, being male, middle class and white.

The good news is that you can walk for 1 minute and get a Checker burger. You can also shoot a ton of different fully automatic weapons right across the street. Your family of 4 can shout for about 2-3 minutes for the cost of buying an AR.
On your way back to I-4 there is a Golden Corral on the right. Right next to it is Boston Lobster feast, where for about $50 per head, you can eat unseasoned lobsters to your hearts content.
Now I have good news. There is a pub just across the street from there called Mulligans. It is owned by a small group of Europeans. One is named Huey and he used to be the sommelier at Gaylord. It is more upscale, and not like a good old neighborhood bar in New Orleans.
The clientele in there is mostly from Celebration, a Disney Stepford wives community right behind the pub.
ETA: There is also a Waffle house beside the Golden Corral. The gas station next to the WH has a homeless encampment behind it. Bring Big Mike a 6 pack and you will be safe, and hear wonderful stories from lunatics. Good times.

Very rarely and the last time was outside of Jackson probably 25 years ago. It was along I55 and as I was walking to my room some ugly rando meth chick bumped into me in the hallway and said “you want to party?”
I wouldn’t have stayed there but I was exhausted and needed a few hours sleep.

I haven't stayed at a true motel since college days.

They are al under $100 if you ask for the government rate. They NEVER ask for an ID. I never claim to work for the government, I simply ask if they have a room available AT the government rate. Typically $94. Works like a charm.

Depends. Sometimes it just means no frills. Last time I went to one under $100, it wasn't a roach motel or anytjing. But they didn't have free breakfast.

When I lived in Orlando, a lot of those hotels were used for people in the witness protection program from Puerto Rico. There was actually a gun battle between PR police and local police because they didn't know that. True story.

Any h/motel that is $45/night is going to be sketchy. You didn’t even need to see the star rating.

When my wife and I first got married, we traveled with her parents through Missouri. Her dad was a tightwad and picked the sketchiest motel to save a buck. The last one we stayed at had porn on every single channel. Classy

I’ve stayed in a lot of $40-$60/night type motels on fishing trips. I’d say most of the clientele are heavy drug users and prostitution. Sad thing is, it used to not be like that. Mostly truckers, construction workers on a job, etc.
Seems like there’s been a big shift in the last decade or so.

Fishing trips with dad always lead to staying in some sort of old school motel/lodge. Not much to choose from when your in the middle of nowhere, but I loved it.

Texas coast is littered with them. And most arent that bad.

Would do this in college when on road trips. You can save money but you definitely get what you pay for in terms of hotels
Most memorable one was a place we stayed at in Hoover for the SEC tournament. Total dump
