Drastic improvements don’t need you mean to necessarily change things. It means you need to get better. Maybe this is just more practice, idk.
it is on the coaches more than the players...
PRACTICE DOES NOT MAKE PERFECT - MYTH
PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT - Coaches will see in a game what they demand in PRACTICE.

Dale Brown - bring back the triangle and two or diamond defense or whatever it was he would use occasionally that would really stymie opponents.
and the FOUR CORNERS... worked very well, except at times it was instituted much early in the game than needed.

He has two resources at his disposal: John Brady - his teams had no offense, but they could play defense. Dale Brown - bring back the triangle and two or diamond defense or whatever it was he would use occasionally that would really stymie opponents.
No
Well, both those coaches' teams played better defense than this one. They certainly were flawed coaches, but they could get their teams to play better defense than Will Wade's teams.

From what people have said recently,I don’t think Dale is happy with Will. I wouldn’t expect much help from him.
Brady on the other hand loves Wade. I think he’d be happy to consult with him.

I still can't believe we blew that 12-9 halftime lead (or whatever it was) against North Carolina.

I think wade being heavy into analytics plays a role. If there's a guy that historically shoots poorly from 3...Wade is content with letting him take shot to beat you. Unfortunately, that guy repeatedly has this season.

without a doubt...not even close.
anyone downvoting is a youngster crapping on Dale and never saw LSU play D under Dale....
one may be able to criticize the Xs and Os...
but the D and the "effort" NEVER.
should look up games like LSU - MEMPHIS and LSU-KY in 1986 .. check out youtube. # 11 defeated # 1 and # 3

If he hasn’t gotten it done since he’s been here, what will change?

You dont think winning the sec last year was getting it done?

We just saw Orgeron completely change his approach to offense in his 3rd season. What makes you think Wade can't do it for defense in his 3rd season?

Wade hasn’t had any luck getting players to stay very long. That contributes to their weak understanding of defense. It doesn’t mean Wade doesn’t understand it.

he gets a salary every year...
while I do not expect him to be THE CHAMP each year,
I expect obvious flaws to be corrected...
THE ROLE OF A GOOD COACH

No we’ve lost more than that. We’ve also had juco’s who won’t get to stay long. I’m not just talking about those who have left for the pros.

Absolutely. Not that using the analytics is a bad thing, but sometimes being so married to them can hurt you. I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that Wade is over-prepared. There is nothing he does with his program that doesn't involved great forethought. But you also have to be able to adjust to what your players can do. His scouting reports may be so detailed as to know what an opponent likes to eat for breakfast before a game. But if your guys are too busy thinking about every intricate detail of every player instead of simply just reacting, that doesn't really help.
Perhaps other teams he's been a part of are more adept at absorbing a detailed game plan and executing it on the court. But if this particular team isn't (for whatever reason) then simplify things. What you are doing right now isn't working. But the GREAT thing is there is still time to adjust and there is not a large amount of adjustment that seems to be necessary. As Wade said, 10-15% better is really all you need.

Some of the defensive stuff, a lot of it is my fault
I was never in the camp that thought Will Wade 'threw guys under the bus'; I think he's a stand up guy; I was also not in the camp of people who thought Will Wade was/is a great coach. He is clearly better than what we've had the last decade, but that's a very low bar. He has a lot of learning and growing to do to become a top tier coach.
Saying the problems are "my fault" and actually correcting the problems are two different things. Good coaches do both.

'm actually all for this. I thought the amount of different things we tried to do defensively became a little taxing.
One possession we would be in a 2-3, then the next we're in man, then the next we're in a full court press.
Plus, changing defenses during the game confuses the offense. Dale Brown did that all the time, with his "freak" defense. It changed, in real-time. (And Dale wasn't a great x-and-o guy, but the freak defense worked).
ETA: I may be completely wrong about this, but nobody really knew what the freak defense was. I thought I recall Dale explain years later that it was a zone if the offense started their offensive possession on the left side of the floor, and a man-to-man if the offense started on the right. I'm sure there were other nuances, but I believe that's what it was, in its simplest form. So it was confusing as hell to the offense, who never figured out what was happening.
