The ramp to get to the mall from the I-10 service road, going eastbound... Everyone stops because they think its a merge, when you have your own fricking lane. The sign CLEARLY says as much. I love just laying on my horn for a solid 15-20 seconds or so, while they get pissed off, only to realize they were the dumbass for not going the entire time.

I had to explain to an Uber driver once that they could do this at the S. Harrells Ferry/Jones Creek intersection.

And getting on to Essen coming off of I-10. Plenty of people stop.

All people in line not going immediately when the light turns green, leaving too much space between each car. You space out after you get up to speed.

I've never seen a population of drivers so bad at zipper merging as the people in Baton Rouge.

Every city has it's fair share of shite drivers, but this specifically seems to be a hard concept for Baton Rougeians.

The stretch of road where Perkins runs into highland @ I-10. Whoever designed this with the 6 traffic lights all Not synced Together needs to be beaten with a hammer.

It's mind blowing how easily those lights could synced and it would alleviate the traffic right there. At no point are any two lights green at the same time

If I ever strike it super rich, I think I'm going to make it my life's mission to do the following:

1. Lobby politicians to make driving tests much, much harder and more comprehensive. Only people that would vote against that aren't old enough to vote.

2. Lobby politicians to pass a bill that creates more enforcement of texting and talking on the non-handsfree phone while driving. Multiple strikes and you lose your license for a long, long time. It is just as dangerous as drunk driving, penalties should be the same.

3. Have billboards all along I-10/I-12 that have very simple driving concepts in big bold letters such as "THE LEFT LANE IS FOR PASSING ONLY" and "YOU CAN TURN RIGHT ON RED UNLESS OTHERWISE INSTRUCTED" and "YIELD DOESN'T MEAN STOP"

ETA:

and maybe try to feed the hungry or something

Our beloved ambulance chasers would have none of that.

You should do like the "Dude With Sign" instagram and just stand there all day with a sign saying this.

Eventually it'll get attention.

It might have been mentioned, but what about all of the people who slow down when they approach a traffic accident? The wreck can be on the opposite side of the interstate and just about everyone who passes slows down.. Some will even tap their brakes.

I hate when traffic is backed up a little... And you get upon the spot and then as you pass it it is smooth travels.. And realize you spent an extra 10-15 mins in traffic just because people wanted to get a look at a wreck.

Rubbernecking isn't a Baton Rouge phenomenon, it's a global thing. Humans like to see carnage and car wrecks, just the way it is.

I think a solution could be to put up those NASCAR screens so people have nothing to look at, but they'd probably just try harder and slow down more to peek around them.

I lose my shite every time I get on the bridge from LA1. Those assholes will frick up the zipper merge for one car length closer to bumper to bumper traffic. It's maddening.

I actually tracked this one down. That big driving school that everyone sends their kids to here teaches that you should stop with a full car length between you and the next car at a light. They teach that you should be able to see the entire next car over your hood when stopped. With the reaction times when the light turns green, you end up with three or more car lengths between cars when everyone gets going. It is maddening because the lights aren't timed for that shite.

You should pull up close to the car ahead, because when the light turns green and that car goes it will take a second for you to go. Then you get correct spacing through the intersection.

Cocksuckers who insist on turning left onto Lee from Nicholson. That intersection upgrade can't be finished soon enough.

They're scared that the baw in the left land will get mad at them if they drive correctly.

It's all dumbassery.
