Ever been asked to lie for someone in court?

This trashy girl I grew up with(our mom's were good friends) called me this weekend to see if I'd testify in her case seeking full custody of her kid. She wanted me to testify that the dad sexually abused the kid. This is the 4th or 5th time she's tried to amend the divorce decree to get full custody. The judge threatened to hold her in contempt of court if she brought another attempt to his courtroom.
I told her I'd testify, but that my testimony would be that the dad is a good dad to the kid. She started crying and I hung up on her.

If she needs that lie to keep her kid, she shouldn’t have the kid
She offer any favors?

I’ve hardly had to appear in court thanks to my outstanding legal team, including Dudley DeBosier the official Injury Lawyers Of The LSU Fightin Tigers, not to mention my Cornell law degree.
However, I’m quite sure some of my street sweeping henchmen have done all sorts of tawdry things in there.

No. I've always been asked to sign a NDA when dealing with the wealthy folk.

Hell, I'd call the dad and tell him to call you as a witness so the judge can see exactly what kinda POS this chick is.
You'd probably be helping that kid out bigly because his mom obviously has no qualms with lying and/or breaking the law.
Not exactly the best role model.

We messed around once when we were in high school. Does that count?
Not interested at all these days. Not only is she crazy, she's pushing 3 bills.

Feels like you should tell the dad that she called and asked you to lie and that you're willing to testify about it.
This C might be able to convince someone to lie. Can't imagine the kind of person who would make up THAT about their kid's father. Awful.

I probably should, but I won't. Really don't want to be in the middle of that situation. I think all parties involved know she's crazy. Just not crazy enough to take her kid away from her.
Even her mom knows she's crazy.

My first job out of college was as a professional liar. I probably got the prime job opening in my graduating class. I was hired by Tishman Construction who was the GC on the original World Trade Center. I was hired to be on the management team for Disney's EPOCT Center and my job was to sit in meetings with Disney execs and convince them that we were on schedule and under budget which we were not. The pay was great but I walked off that job after about a month and a half.

Family court seems to have more liars than regular court. I don't know why, but I guess the parties (usually only one of the parties actually) have lied to each other so much over the years that making up stuff for court is not really a stretch.
Stay out of that mess.
