Rhabdo is serious,in that it can kill you.Large levels of potassium released into bloodstream can have serious effects on the heart, including cardiac arrest.Intracellular contents are trapped by kidneys and can cause kidney failure.Dialysis and/or kidney transplant are not fun.

LOL at every sedentary idiot in this thread saying 200 pushups isn’t a lot. If any of them have done 50 pushups in the past year they wouldn’t be saying this shite.

200 was a good morning start in boot camp. What is the statute of limitations for suing the Corps?

All kids are fat nowadays. I went to Disney with my son and noticed him next to majority of the kids. I saw multiple 120 lb+ 5/6 year olds that were being pushed because they couldn’t walk. The state of our youth is sad. Every parent that isn’t me or on this board is shite.

If someone offered me 175k to do 200 pushups I'd be SOL.

Most in here wouldn't even get close to 50. I started working out and doing pushups a few months ago and eventually got up to 50 in one go, but when I started 25 straight had me sore for days. And I'm not a fatty like many in here.

BS on being hospitalized for 5 days because 200 push-ups. WTF he do, tear every muscle in his upper body

It's not that that keeps people in the hospital. My girlfriend got rhabdo from orange theory and was in the hospital just about 3 days. She was on constant IV fluids to flush the damaging shite out, her kidney function was being monitored and her arms were so swollen they were afraid she was gonna get compartment syndrome. It's no joke.

Yeah, ain't none of these fools doing 200 pushups.

I'd *almost* pay 175$ to see it.

You have to admit, for a kid that 200 push-ups could do this much damage to, he showed a hell of a lot of dedication to that band.

He almost certainly didnt knock them out at once. Most probably he was a kid who, like many, gets little or no daily exercise. He did as many as he could, rested a minute or two, and did some more. In other words, a bunch of max effort sets. At the end he was probably doing one at a time. Thus the rhabdo from doing way more than his body was accustomed to. Military trainees and high level athletes steadily work up over time to max output and even then some of them get rhabdo.

From the article Medical testimony indicated Rushing's damaged muscles released an extremely high level of enzymes into his system

I’d love to know what his actual lab values (creatine kinase) were. Like most things, there’s a spectrum of severity in rhabo.

Could be wrong, but I doubt his kidney function was in jeopardy, much less his life, after 200 push-ups.
