Because next year their schedule is going to matter again. Basically no one and then Notre Dame (Maybe Virginia/Louisville)

Sept. 3 (Thursday): at Georgia Tech
Sept. 12: LOUISVILLE
Sept. 19: AKRON
Sept. 26: VIRGINIA
Oct. 2 (Friday): at Boston College
Oct. 10: at Florida State
Oct. 17: NC STATE
Oct. 24: SYRACUSE
Nov. 7: at Notre Dame
Nov. 14: THE CITADEL
Nov. 21: at Wake Forest
Nov. 28: SOUTH CAROLINA

They are lucky they play Notre Dame later in the year, the win might actually mean something at that point.

Still sad the ACC is so pointless as a conference.

Them beating Ohio State will still keep them in the conversation. And having Trevor Lawrence/Etienne.

Doesn't matter how badly we beat them.

Fun part though is now Clemson and all of the people that support their inclusion in the playoffs next year will say "LSU was just an all time great team and that game isn't an indictment on Clemson".

It's more their conferences fault for being so shitty.

All you have to do with Clemson or even Ohio State's schedule is line it up preseason and postseason next to ours, we will always have a tougher schedule. That method is the clearest way of comparing the two.

For 2020:

LSU/CLEMSON

Alabama/Notre Dame
Auburn/Louisville
Florida/Virginia
Texas/Florida State
Texas A&M/South Carolina
Ole Miss/Wake Forest
MS State/Georgia Tech
Arkansas/Syracuse
South Carolina/NC State
Rice/Boston College
UTSA/Akron
Nicholls/The Citadel

Slap the preseason rankings for 2020 on those matchups and we play at least 5 top 25 schools. They play probably 1 or 2. Right?

I'm not sure how good their opponents will be coming into next season, but I'd have to think that South Carolina is at least their 5th toughest matchup, if not more. While it will be one of our easier ones.

Clemson is in the playoffs until further notice. That's just all there is to it.

Trust me they would hate to play teams like LSU,Bama,Auburn on a yearly basis. As long as they keep putting them in playoffs they have no reason to leave that conference or schedule tougher out of conference games. Are they good enough to compete in one or two really competitive games a year ....sure, but give that Clemson team LSU schedule from last year and I'll bet they lose at least 3

what happened in 2019/20 playoffs is completely irrelevant to who makes the playoff in 2020/21. If Clemson is 13-0 again, which looks very likely based on that schedule they will be in the playoff as they should. If the SEC and/or B1G Champ is undefeated, then Clemson will probably be seeded below those teams, just like the 2 years.

Last year they played South Carolina and Texas A&M our of conference.

This year they play South Carolina and Notre Dame.

Schedules are made far in advance and there is no way to know who is going to be good when you play them.

Neither of those out of conference schedules are bad, and are as good or better than most, including LSU.

The issue is their conference is horrible.

Bama fricked up by losing to them twice, if they were 0-4 or 5 in the playoffs they may think twice about just giving them the nod since their SOS is dookie.

Annnd that's how they reel the recruits in, no brainer, the ACC needs to get off their asses and make it relevant again

That is just not true man.

Every time people knocked Clemson for their schedule this past year when discussing playoff seedings/participants, defenders would point to them having a weak schedule the year before and destroying Alabama in the championship.

People remember that stuff from the year before and it absolutely sways opinions of teams.

If Clemson got embarrassed by Ohio State last year by 40 points and didn't belong on the same field, it would definitely impact the perception of that team with the committee, in the media, and in the court of public opinion.

I can't penalize them for their shitty conference, but it is aggravating how they just waltz into the playoffs.

You can look at the recruiting rankings and see it isn't changing soon. Ohio State's path isn't that much more challenging TBH.

Yeah, it's actually a lot more challenging than Clemson's.

@ Oregon (top tier in OOC road game strength)
@ Penn St
Michigan

All harder than any game Clemson plays most likely. Notre Dame is mediocre at best and lost to Michigan last year by 30.

Not saying they've got anything close to an SECW gauntlet, but it's a lot harder than Clemson's. I think OSU could lose to Oregon. Their defense is going to be FILTHY.

No, not their fault. But why do we forgive the ACC for being inept, but not the Sun Belt, American, or MAC.
