Imagine if President Trump had seized millions of acres of Utah land. That bastard!

I guess it was OK when the past 75 years of destroying our coastal area for gas for the rest of the nation? Utah will have to deal with it. We had to deal with it and our gas was more expensive than the states that used the gas we produced. Louisiana politicians sold us down the river as usual.

Seems like Trump is simply reversing a very recent government land grab.

Mining and ranching can not coexist
Ben Cartwright raised cattle and owned mines
So did the Barkleys

oh for fricks sake. this was a huge land grab by obama who added every fricking blade of grass and pile of sand he could to our 'protected national monuments'.
frick off; sorry but the government cant have all the land out west.
PS the mining is under VERY strict environmental rules to boot.

This is the type of nonsense that drives people looking for conversation out of here - they can't do it on FB, they get banned from everything on Reddit, but it's completely allowed here.

I'm diehard Trump but I don't like this. Teddy Roosevelt is one of the best Presidents ever.

Exactly. I don't get not being a supporter of wilderness as public land, in this way it belongs to all of us. Keep the wild west wild. I get that the federal gov is the big bad boogeyman, but keeping these lands federal means we all have access to them, and have a say in how they are managed.
These places will get gobbled up and closed off in a heartbeat if they're sold. I wish we had more public wilderness like this in the south.. Would have way more hunting opportunities.

Here is the thing
The residents of Southern Utah did not like Obama's overreach. I had a client hospital in the area and know several people who live near Blanding. What Obama did was hurting the locals - anyone from ranchers who lost grazable acreage to Indians who lost the ability to cut firewood to heat their homes through the winter.
My guess is the Trump admin is putting the boundaries back to where they were which is a good thing.
