Brian McTaggart:
Confirming a one-year contract for Baker, which gives the Astros (and their new GM) flexibility to re-evaluate things at the end of the 2020 season.
Source: Joe Espada will remain on staff as Dusty Baker's bench coach. That's good news for the Astros.
Jake Kaplan:
Jim Crane said on Jan. 17 that the new manager would inherit A.J. Hinch's coaching staff. “You’re not going to see any wholesale changes,” Crane said that day. “The core group we have in there is very good.”

Dusty is the consummate professional. Highly effective manager. He’s going to have the Astros back in the World Series in no time.

“Hey Dusty, can you come coach us through this shitshow and once everything passes in a year or two, we’ll hire somebody worth a shite?”

two-year deal
thank goodness.

Exactly. Chew on that fricking tooth pick and don’t say a word.

Strom is a CA guy too
I think he will handle Baker and the pitching just fine
I'm ready to get this show on the road, literally
We're a better team there anyway.

Would Dusty have put Cole in after Greinke gave up the first homer in game 7?
If the answer is yes, then let’s frickin ride.

Does Baker still use his signature tooth pick.. ?

He blew Kerry Wood and Mark Price's careers.
Agreed. Mark Price would be in the Pro Basketball HoF if it weren’t for Dusty.

Going to be a rough year on road games for that team.

Is Ron Cey still around ??

One year deal is what I read.

Was nice seeing Greinke and Verlander before Dusty had them throw 300 innings

Baker was scrutinized for the Cubs’ declining productivity. Baker has said that putting men on base can be unimportant and merely "clogging up the bases."
Baker is known as a "player's manager." He is seen as preferring to play veterans over prospects even when his teams are out of the playoff hunt, stating a need to maintain the integrity of the playoff races.
Honest question... is Dusty Baker dumb?

Kinda like how Jim Grobe took over Baylor for one year.
