lets ride...
$2m is a lot of money. Anyone know what his annual buyout was from Nebraska?

Hopefully we have some left over for a good passing game coordinator...
They’ll be fine

Based on recent contracts, LSU seems to be throwing too much money at just about everyone.
I've seen it mentioned that with the new SEC TV deals all the SEC teams have extra money to pay coaches and you can expect to see a jump in contracts for coaches.

Seems kind of steep huh?
Kinda. Guy is capable but he's been on the sidelines a couple years.

Disruptive, attacking defense!

Pelini could be our Brent Venables.
A guy who doesn't have a huge desire to be a head coach (anymore) and might want to finish here. Hopefully he is our DC for 5-10 years.

And the SEC offenses have changed quite a bit in 13 years

Dude's a dinosaur.
He’s 52. I don’t understand the hate/skepticism of this hire. His defenses here were ELITE. He’s a proven commodity and recruiter. Y’all need to get a grip

I do not mind the hire. Pelini was well respected as a coach; he was not very good at public relations. I do not see any reason to pay him 2M/year though. Let's hope he earns it; he always impressed me as a guy who hated to lose, and that is good.

For those who wanted Aranda to blitz more and be more aggressive, you will get that with Pelini

Absolutely love the hire!

I'm fine with it. The guy is a good dc and will do great here. Is it the splashy hire that message board geeks jerk one out over? No, but realistically how many coaches out there would you consider being your so-called homerun hire. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the price. All these people going crazy over a passing game coordinator I find hilarious. Nobody wants to give Ensminger any credit last year.

Football dinosaur, not age dinosaur. This is not good. Who else was hiring him? Who else would throw that kind of money at him? Why not bring in an up-and-comer? Just a puzzling hire.
