OK, my haircut is pretty simple and straightforward. Takes about 10 minutes and then I have them shampoo the hair clippings out. This cost me $22 at sports clips. I’ve always tipped $5 and thought that was generous.

Now the payment screen shows tip choices of:

$5
$7
$10
Or “enter custom amount”

Now I feel like the girl who cuts my hair looks at me like I’m a cheapskate when I select the lowest possible choice on the screen. Even though I think it’s a good tip amount

What does the average OT Baller tip on a normal men’s haircut and shampoo?

My haircuts are $12.00 next door, but I give her a $20.00 because she used to take my tip back in the day

$5 is plenty enough. I used to tip that much when I went to the fancy places that give you a drink with your haircut. Now I go to a old man barbershop that charges $17 and I just give them a $20.

In before the cheapskates start crap about it being stupid to tip for a haircut.

I would concur that $5 is generous (greater than 20%).

I wish we’d just have a thread on professions that we don’t have to tip.

I have "difficult" hair, so I go to a girl that charges $40. I tip $10. I think $5 on $22 is plenty. It's almost 25%.

My barber charges $17 and only takes cash, so it's kind of accepted you give them a $20.

My haircut is also $22 I usually pay with a $20 and a $10 and tell her keep the change, but I think you are spot on with your tip, if you think about it you are already paying her to do her job, I’m in the fiber optic business and no one has ever offered me a tip for doing my job.

I don't bother with tips at all. I just send a Harry & David Basket at the end of the year with a greeting card thanking him for all my haircuts.

Whenever haircuts for men went above $10, I started cutting my own hair.

We pay too much for services.

Yeah I can’t stand that preset amount bullshite. I’m tipping $5 no matter what. The haircut itself costs like $20, only takes them 15-20 mins, and it’s a pretty darn simple haircut.
I can’t help but laugh when the person cutting my hair (and does an average job) is also trying to get me to spend $20 more on product while I’m there. I get that’s their hustle to make as much as they can per haircut, but I had one annoyingly gay (exaggerated lisp and feminine mannerisms) dude cutting my hair, and was basically stabbing the trimmers into my head and not paying any attention to detail as he was cutting with scissors try to get me to buy a special hairbrush for cowlicks and some other products on the shelf he said I definitely needed. Told him no half a dozen times to all that crap before checkout, so he hands me about 5 “business cards” to give out to friends. Took the cards, tipped him $5 then threw the cards away in the garbage can on the way out.

My barber’s price on his website says $35 for haircut and beard trim (razor cheeks and neck). But I once asked him how much it was and he told me $25. I give him $40, so I’m either tipping him $15 or $5, but I also get “free” whisky while there.

My barber charges $16.00 and I give him $30.

He gives me a great haircut and he meets me at his shop at 6:30am (it opens at 8am normally) so I can get a haircut on the way to work.

I am very bald and very glad that I do not have to worry about this type of nonsense. I often forget that other men actually have to make arrangements to get their hair cut.

35 dollar hair cut. 10 dollar tip. My barber does a great job and takes his time to get it right.
