Are we sure that was the diplomatic flight?
Granted, there probably aren't too many flights out of Wuhan to California right now. But, the article I saw specifically mentioned the Ontario, CA airport and said the flight was expected tomorrow morning.
Evidently Ontario airport has been identified as a "repatriation" site for a decade or so and has held training simulations in the past.

Well, regardless, I can't wait to hear from Honkus again.
Mainly because it should mean they are back in the States and safe.
But selfishly because the stories he will have should be the most interesting read TD has ever had, whenever he actually has time to sit and post about it.

They had a flight this past weekend that they booked on their own and it got cancelled with no refund.

just to clarify...the add'l $$ beyond the $4400 is to help them cover expenses during their 11-13 (?) day quarantine, as well as flights from Ontario, California back to Rhode Island. Donations or well-wishes are equally welcomed! He was asked not to discuss flight details..so we really don't know which flight he is/was on. I last talked to him at 9:30 this morning, and they were checking in baggage, but they had not gone thru customs and the flight had not yet arrived. He has not responded since the last message at 9:30.

I mean, this virus is a freak thing. I usually do one international fishing trip a year and have never done insurance. I also avoid peak hurricane season. If I were to ever get sick enough that I can't travel that's just shitty luck I guess.
