Anyone else thinking of heavily investing in Chinese stocks that have taken heavy hits because of the coronavirus? Or does that make me a shitty person?

BUY! BUY! BUY! Dollar cost average all the way down!

If you survive, future you is going to thank you. If civilization ends, the money you invested won't matter.

From NYT article:

quote:

“Those who can get diagnosed and treated are the lucky ones,” Mr. Long said. “In our neighborhood, many who weren’t able to get diagnosed ended up dying at home.”

Getting treatment for the coronavirus in a hospital requires jumping through a number of hoops.

Need Slackster to give us some more Leslie Nielson impressions

It's also been reported that people that die without getting tested are not being counted as confirmed virus deaths.

Wenzhou lock down, 500 miles from Wuhan
quote:

But 10 days after locking down Wuhan, authorities on Sunday announced similar draconian curbs on people movement in Wenzhou, 800 kilometres (500 miles) away).

Wenzhou is a coastal city of nine million people in Zhejiang province, part of the eastern industrial heartland that has powered China’s economic rise over recent decades.

Somehow, the Lahore Pakistan newsite got this. It's down in the print about a single traveler now hospitalized there. Different approach by their newsmedia: pix of the sick guys passport, his boarding pass for the airline he flew in on.

Here's an interesting take on how to beat the corona virus:

First Briton to contract coronavirus in Wuhan claims he refused antibiotics and shook off the deadly infection with a HOT TODDY of whisky and honey - as death toll soars to over 360

quote:

Connor Reed, a 25-year-old English teacher from Wales, was stricken by the virus around two months ago. He had taken himself to hospital in the Chinese city after struggling to breathe with a severe cough.

Mr Reed, from Llandudno, said: 'I used the inhaler which helped control the cough and drank a hot whisky with honey until that ran out.'

He told The Sun: 'It's an old fashioned remedy but it seemed to do the trick. I did refuse to take the antibiotics the doctors prescribed me because I didn't want to take any medicines.'

These paragraphs deserve followups

German Health Minister Jens Spahn said that two people who were flown back to Germany on Saturday were found to be infected with the virus.

So how does that work? Will airlines be required to ask passengers if they have been in China in the last two weeks? And what if they lie, why should the airline incur the costs of a diversion?

Well if they are considering HK China, they don’t stamp your passport there...

And why should the airport have to dig through a passport in order to verify that info? And what’s to stop someone from ripping out the page with a Chinese stamp on it?
