The chickens are finally coming home to roost for Purdue Pharma. They will likely be out of business soon because they were by far the worst actor in all this. However I think they may be scapegoated as the only bad guys in all this besides a handful of other egregious bad actors.

I am halfway through the documentary, and I read that super detailed newspaper article last week. Both the article and the movie are outstanding but I wish we got to understand why Jeffrey Hall killed Danny.

I mean there is absolutely no way Danny tried to rob Jeffrey, even though Jeffrey is probably much more bigger now. Reading really between the lines it seems like Danny might not have had enough money to get what he wanted and was trying to make up something up to get the deal, and Jeffrey snapped and killed him to look tough. He said something about taking anger management classes in prison but it was glossed over. I’m really grasping at straws but can’t come up with anything else.

Danny was maybe 140-150 pounds, and I just don’t see him trying to strongarm anyone.

It is amazing how people take such ruthless actions (and insane risks) over really trivial matters.

I wonder how many people would give a shite about this story if Danny wasn’t white.

Let’s face it, regardless of how well his parents were portrayed, Danny was a junkie. Jeffery had been his dealer for a while. For all we know, Danny could’ve already been in debt to Jeffery and was trying to pull another one over on him. There had been some reference to a recent beef between the junkies (Danny) from St Bernard and the dealers in the 9th Ward.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

With that said, I do feel bad for and have a ton of respect for the dad.

Think about this too:

The Afghan War in the 80's, we supply them with Arms and we get heroin in return. War ends, prescription pills start in the 90's. Doctor's start getting caught, Taliban stops opium production in 2000, we go back to war in Afghanistan and taking heroin in the 00's.

How much methadone do people take to get high? Methadone’s original intent was as a pain medication that did NOT get you high - which is why it’s used to wean people off of shite like heroin. Though as a pain medication the dosage is 10mg two or three times/day.

Ah, my fault. Didn't realize you were talking of the source document. Yeah, that'd be a laborious process to supply those.

Knew him in high school. Didn't go to the same school but lived in the same area. Also served with him. Ill be damned.

You’re just trying to be contrarian. On the MovieTV board, you tried to defend the cops for not doing their job.

Danny was a junkie
He was in school but no one defended what he did.

Jeffery had been his dealer for a while.
Jeffrey was 15. Define “a while.”

Jeffrey has never been clear on why he did it. But he never said it had anything to do with not getting paid.

What a cliche.

Watched the 1st episode yesterday.

The police curroption didn't surprise as much as their laziness and arrogance.

Either they're completely overwhelmed or just don't GAS and it also shows you that a concerned citizen who actually GAS does a better job than so called "professionals"

I remember being an "ear witness" to a murder (heard the gun shot and saw a guy hauling arse in his car shortly afterwards) and I gave all the information to LE on scene and not one follow up call from a detective.I also gave my account of what happened to the AJC and still didn't get a call or follow up from APD.

I'm not trying to knight for the DEA here but this was 2001.

Everything was still done via paper. So they'd show up to a pharmacy and have to literally go through tens of thousands of paper records to identify Clegget scrips for Oxy.

People forget how advanced data-tracking has become just in the last 10-15 years.

They were still 2 years slower than Mr. Schneider, even after he showed them what was going on.

Someone close to the family mentioned that white kids from St Bernard has been coming over and robbing dealers so he could have easily just been a victim of circumstance. A white target to show the neighborhood and outsiders what happens if you mess with them. Who knows though

I just watched the first episode and as a father, I had to fight back tears the whole damn time. The sound of the hurt in his and his wife's voice was painful and I couldn't help but to think of my four year old son and the demons and temptations that he will be faced with as he gets older in this very different society/school culture than I grew up in. Scary stuff. As a parent you just want the best for your children and always think it won't be your kids but the reality is that you can only do as good a job raising your kids as you can while they are at home but when they're away you have no control. I hope and pray that I instill enough morals and right vs wrong in my kids for them to always make the right choice when I'm not around.

Being a parent is by far the most enjoyable and rewarding but most fearful experience a human can take part in.

I didn't even know those existed. Oxycontin is 20mg. I haven't seen it higher. Percs cap out at 10mg I think. Maybe I am missing something, or things changed.
